Golden Axe sucked up a heck of a lot of my pocket money as a kid...

So did Heavy Barrel for that matter.

Has to be GoldenEye although not really old school yet

Why play with yourself when you can have other people play with you ;)

Sonic, Mario, and Zelda were the best. :)

Zelda, especially Ocarina of time, has some of the best VG music!

I also like SimEarth, although it's not on the list... :(

No, seriously, if Goldeneye's old school, then I should be able to put down Master of Orion II.

Well, if we really want to go back in time, Elite, Alley Cat, and Starglider.

:D

Rogue, that Star Trek game on the C64.

The only old school game on that list is Pac Man. Where's Zaxxon? Tempest? Centipede? I, Robot? That track ball football game that you had to tape your hands up to play? Or Track & Field for that matter. Space Invaders? Battlezone? Red Baron? Galaxia? Astroids? That game that was like Astroids that had the big white face that would chase you around...

THATS old school

Yeah, that. I was also a big Zork player once, although I don't think I got very far in it. And now I don't have it anymore...

I voted 'Sonic' on that list. Mainly because I don't recall playing any of the others.

Rogue rules. :D

(Though to be fair, most people wouldn't have heard of 90% of the games mentioned here...)

I believe it's now freeware, and legal to download. You should be able to find it. :)

Ooh i liked all the ace old school RPGs. The best obviously being Secret of Mana and Chronotrigger. Just loved the three player option of the former.

Indeed it is. Zork 1-3 can be found here (http://www.infocom-if.org/downloads/downloads.html).

You can find Neuromancer (I'm ashamed to have called it technomancer...Damn you, GURPS) at the Home of the Underdogs.

I refuse to participate in an "old-school" poll which mentions neither Kid Icarus nor Bubble Bobble.

And SCII/Popful Mail would be nice additions, but they've only been around a dozen years or so.

Ok, in relative terms I suppose these can be considered old... and of the choices listed I think Zelda would be my own personal favourite. But why in the heck don't you have mega-man? I would think that it could fit in with the games posted... and I would have given that the nod for sure!! :)

Of those, only Pac Man, Mario Brothers 1, Street Fighter (For DOS) are the only "old" school games. Where are the classics like Elite? King's Bounty? Heart of China? Anything on a 5 1/4 floppy?
