I am slightly worried. Today I witnessed four people spend 50 minutes in an english class (1 hour long) watching someone play monopoly on his cell phone. It made me understand a bit better why last year only 1 in 4 people passed english...

Your point being? There are people in teh world that don't study and flunk classes? Yes, they exist. 50minutes does not equal 1hour

Well for 10 minutes the teacher was talking directly to them so they couldnt. Maybe you just had to be there. I mean you had 4 people huddled around a cell phone with one of them playing monopoly for pretty much the whole lesson.

From what I hear NCEA is terrible (I'm only 14 [Year 10] so I haven't had to take it yet although I am taking a few credits this year). I will probably take IB the moment it becomes available for me. I'm also surprised how the NCEA topic has managed to pop up in somewhere like this.

I'm 6th form, year 12, whatever. It's not THAT bad, I mean some of it is kind of weird and doesn't make sense but I passed with flying colours so I dont really care.

Well hot dog its St helliers i havent seen you in ages hows it going.
Yeah sure Its too far away they are not allowed but they are, people suck Teachers can confiscate the phones but then the parents will just get them back for them! :mp5:
I remember back in 99 when cellphones started to appear signifcantly in schools and people would get them confiscated just for showing them(fair enough too)but now people text under their desks can take photos of others in the changing rooms etc.
I blame democracy!

My Sis thinks the Sun shines out of its arse!
Maybe because she actually got in to UNI. :mp5:
The reality is why did noone bring up the fact people passed 5 and 6 form and yet suddenly fail 7???
I kicked arse in 6th form English and History and that was done in blocks/segments and internally assesed before NCEA.
So the NCEAQA theory that this means they suck is BS it means they ballsed up on
1 training teachers for 7th form NCEA or
2 they ignored the requirements they set teachers for internally assesing at the begining of the year!

Yeah, hopefuly they will get it sorted quickly, the system could be alright if they didn't screw up the standard so much.
NCEA? pah im yr 12 and i did absolutely shit-all last year (i mean nothing honestly) and still passed with 103 credits. i dont know what to say? is it good or bad? i mean shit either they teach the same stuff over and over or they dont care what we write but either way school is still over-all shit
