Writing utensil

As I understand it, there are five basic types of writing utensils--pens, nib pens (which would be like calligraphy pens), pencils, mechanical pencils, and other (I don't know why you write with crayons or poster paint or the like, but more power to you). The question is, then, which is the best? I myself favor the mechanical pencil, for its line weight is more regular than a normal pencil, it doesn't need to be sharpened, it never gets shorter, and what you write can be erased.

Biros. I have tiny writing, and fountain pens can't hack it.

I love the feel of a Parker, or other fountain pen. And gel pens are nice too.

But you can beat a good old Bic Médium Biro. Just got to remember not suck it if I chew the end off...

A standard pencil is the most pleasant to write with, I think. Biros irritate me after a time and mechanical pencils break too easily and feel like pens anyway.
