There's a large natural disaster in the US. 15 years later the poor-rich gap is at an all-time low. What happened and why did it affect the poor-rich gap?

A diplomatic incident in China regarding the dumping of E-waste turned into a full-scale nuclear war. The resulting elimination of living beings on earth resulted in the complete closing of the rich-poor gap seeing as how everyone was dead.

This really sexy new compound is released into the air that, once mixed with the oxygen in our air, burns paper.

Well, once that compound reached our paper money, it burnt it to a crisp, rendering it useless. Thus, there are no poor or rich people.

Technically it is a natural disaster, no?

A natural disaster puts toxins in the air that only affect such things as chilean-paprika-sundried-tomates, organic-non-gluten-wheat-germ-soy-clay-oven-baked-bread, and 80%-cocoa-free-trade-sudanese-date-mint-chocolate, killing off all the rich Yuppies who consume these things in almost exclusively. The rich-poor divide goes away, and we're all stuck eating kraft dinner.

The US blamed a rich oil country for the disaster (they had some meteorology weapon ,ofcourse there were no prooves but the americans bought it) they atacked them that started a WW and the guvernment manipulation made every rich person getting involved in the war and giving their money "to rescue their nation from this "freedom war"

the ultra looney far left wing branch of the Democrat party seized control of the government and raised taxes on the wealthy to assist the poor until everyone was poor - to quote the band "10 Years After"

The oil ran out and America never accepted any substitute. Everyone's just trying to get by, no time for subjecting one's fellow man.

(As for why the rich would be dragged down so low despite having all the everything? How many rich people have guns these days? ...poor people...?)

The natural disaster was of such a caticlismic proportion that nearly everything ahd to be rebuilt. Large corporations ceased to exist since their markets waned. Money as we know it lost all value . People were so disgusted by the loss of life that they created communes that shared equally and all distribution was witnessed in public. Those caught partaking of anything without sharing were cast out into the wildland voids where Darwin's ltheories prove all too true. In the impending years the lawlessness lessened because major war lords in the voids were defeated by the more organized and purpose minded communals. Thus brining about an age of relative peace for a thousand years until the communil system fell due too decadence and loss of morality and foundation.
