Tired?

I was thinking. Why must we sleep? Is there a substitution to sleep? Can't we just have enough caffeine to where our body doesn't need sleep? Is there anything besides sleep that can give us the energy we need? Probably not, but worth a shot to hear some answers...
In short, your mitochondria go whack if they don't get a break, and your brain likes to defrag itself every now and then.

i heard that there is a man ( a russian guy) who overcomed in time his desire of sleep and now at night when everybody sleeps he reads books.
but i dont think he wont live long enough due to braind damage he inflicts.

If sleeping is brain defrag, that would be why I run at sub-optimal levels all the time.
As was said, sleep isn't just for an energy recharge... The body uses it to perform routine maintenance, and reset important systems...
So, anything that negates our desire to sleep isn't doing us any good... We might not feel tired, and we might not have to sleep, but our bodies are being driven into the ground without this downtime...
And caffeine definitely won't work... Caffeine doesn't remove our need for sleep, it just blocks the chemicals in our brains that tell us that we're tired... We're still just as tired, and our bodies are just as worn out, but the caffeine makes it so we can't tell...
Once it wears off, you're worse than you were before you started...lol Plus, our bodies build up a resistance to caffeine over time... So it will take more and more of it to work each time, leading up to the point where it becomes useless entirely...
But anyways, even though sleeping for nearly one third of our lives seems like a waste of time, our bodies require it, or they will break...

"Crystal myth"?
Hee.
It was even funnier when I misread it at first as "crystal Myrth".
Also, I believe the diet pills you are referring to are composed of amphetamines themselves. Not sure, though.

No, you have to sleep. I have Chronic Fatigue and Insominia. How's that for a combination? When you don't get enough sleep your immune system shuts down.
