Give an example of what you would consider to be poetic justice; a situation that you think would (hopefully) change someone's opinion about something.

Mine would be:

Someone always going on about how the poor are lazy and that's why they're poor, suddenly losing all their assets due to unexpected unemployment, ending up working in a Burger Barn for minimum wage and living in a dingy flat.

I knew a homosexual who harassed me due to my thoughts on homsexuals in general. He even claimed that I was a higher risk to catch the AIDs! Well it turned out he caught the HIV a year later. So to make a long story short, he's dead now.

Yikes...I was thinking along the lines of make-believe here...not true (and terrible) stories...

A racist being drafed, thrust into a "Battle of the Somme" style warzone, and having his/her life saved by a member of another race.

AHAHAHA! Oh my God. I admire you for telling that story. No matter that the next 30 posts after mine are going to bash the hell out of you.


By the way, here's a good, poetic form of justice.

Take one of these fools who really believes that humans are all good, decent people at heart, give him $15,000, and set him down in Queens, or the Bronx. Then, wait to see how long he makes it before he is dead, and everything, the money, his shirt, and his shooes as well, are all being used to buy cocaine.

This came from the Darwin Awards, so I can't vouch for accuracy, but...

A pair of car bombers were driving to their targets with the time bombs attached, but as they traveled, they forgot to account for time zones. So, when they checked their watches, then set the bombs before going to sleep, they were an hour off. But the room they stayed in had an alarm that woke them at the right time, they thought. Thus, they were an hour late when they left for their targets, and blew up an hour outside of their target, killing no one but themselves.

Again, not sure if it happened, but definitely poetic.

Someone who advocates totalitarian government getting caught under a totalitarian regime that finds some reason to dislike him/her.

Or, take one of those pessimists who really believes that ALL humans are evil, selfish people at heart, strip him of all his belongings and toss him into the poorest village in Peru...and see how long it takes before he is given shelter, food and companionship by people who, despite being dirt poor themselves, think more of making sure everyone eats instead of gorging themselves silly.

Then again, such a person would probably just think these people were suckers, and rob them at the first chance, in order to get out of the village:(

Hey, I advocate a totalitarian government!
But I'm very specific that said totalitarian government should be run by me.

How about one of those people who think that those with a low IQ should be sterilised, smug in the belief that their own IQ is superior...only to find out they have a slightly below average IQ and the operation is scheduled for Tuesday.

Or on the racist front...

One of those 'pure white aryans' who had a black person in the family way back when, marries another 'pure white aryan' who ALSO has a black person in the family...and they have a beautiful little black baby when their recesive genes match up...I'm sure right up until the paternity test the guy would think she cheated, but OH the sweet sight when he realises it's really his!

Homophobes to end up in pound-me-in-the-ass federal prison (in a country like the US where prison rape is endemic and nothing is done about it).

Oooh, or an American right-winger to end up in a Guantanamo-Bay like place. Preferably somewhere in Turkey.

Now, see, there was no need to get personal and try and make a debate out of it. I never said that just because humans aren't all good that they must be all bad.

Not to mention that in said village, the only thing that pessimist would lack would be clothes, and the ability to fend off the diseases he would probably end up succumbing to, thus ending his brilliant friendship with people whom he can't communicate with. Assuming, of course, that they aren't guerrillas, and they kill you to hide the location of their "village," which is actually and underground hideout DISGUISED as a village. AHAHAH! Irony! Poetic INjustice!

I thought about this one, but I don't think it really fits, since most of the guys in prison AREN'T gay, and the sex is usually more about asserting one's power in a powerless situation.

Perhaps a raging homophobe who found that he actually had homosexual impulses...wait, that happens a lot, nevermind.

Or a homophobe who has a gay child...no, that happens too, and doesn't mean they'll change their mind...

I'm not sure. More ideas on homophobic poetic justice?

They marry a bisexual who asks them to organise a homosexual threesome?
Or maybe they go to an all boys rich school? (no knowledge of that occuring...honestly...you don't believe me? *wide innocent eyes*)

When playing Insurgent Camp on America's Army a person fires off a shot from his M203 and manages to peg me through an open window. Seconds later he blows his own stupid self up by hitting the rock in front of him. Oh yes, justice was served.
