Can anyone recommend me some good ska/hardcore in the vein of Choking Victim?

While I can barely tolerate the following works (and wouldn't classify them as ska), Smash Mouth's first CD, "Fuck Yu Mang", is a great hardcore ska album.

Sublime is far from "hardcore" most of the time, but they're a wildly varied band, and most of what they produced falls inside the punk-ska-reggae continuum. They're also one of my favorite bands. Rancid gets the same, notice, except for that last part. And, they're a lot less humorous.

Other hardcore Ska (which may or may not be good, depending on your tastes) include NOFX, Reel Big Fish, No Doubt, and (Howcome this didn't cross my mind first?) Mighty Mighty Bosstones. The last of those is much better than you'd suspect if you've only heard radio & such, but with the rest aren't missing too much.

Mephiskapholese, perhaps. But I've never heard the band you mentioned, so I don't know. I assume you already passed through Fishbone.

How about Operation Ivy or Fuzigish.
If you're looking for some real ska, try Skatalites.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by "hardcore" and I've never listened to the band you mentioned, so these might be totally off from what you're looking for, but try Spitvalves, Streetlight Manifesto, and Big D & the Kids Table. And I second the suggestion for Mephiskapheles.

Give The Planet Smashers a try, or if you want an awesome hardcore ska band, try Against All Authority. Good stuff there.

i wouldnt suggest sublime or smash mouth if youre looking for actually ska (and im really glad nobody mentioned no doubt yet :) ) but i would suggest some two-tone ska, like the specials, bad manners, the beat, the bodysnatchers and the list goes on

if you want some first wave ska stuff try desmond dekker or the skatalites

i can recommend some third wave stuff for you if you want but i dont have a good list coming to mind right now and so just like email me thecheckeredmullet@gmail.com if youre more curious

I don't know if they would fit in the hardcore section but Five Iron Frenzy is pretty cool

I was more interested in h/c, and I'm gradually moving towards ska through stuff like Choking Victim and CapDown - which is the stuff that you'd hate, but I love.

[QUOTE=KatieAnnand im really glad nobody mentioned no doubt yet :)[/QUOTE]Now now... while I never said they were good (and won't even argue that it's possible to be an intelligent human being and like them at the same time), you can only claim that they ain't ska if you're arguing from willful ignorance. And they are probably the most popular band around today that's under the ska bit, so the OP might like them.

This was a 0-reply thing on page five when I replied, so I replied as if I'd be the only one and just tried to give every idea off the top of my head.

As for you're "Sublime isn't really ska" bit, I'll call you the unfortuneate side effect of a badly aimed handjob, the misbegotten child of a syphillitic whore, and (just to top it off) a ****. SM I'll just point you to the one named album and pretend the rest didn't happed.

INDK should hit the spot. Or Leftöver Crack, since it's got some of the old members of Choking Victim.
