I enjoy being straight, that I have a large choice of possible partners.

I'm proud of my Irish heritage, and I will welcome the one I love into my bloodline.

I'm proud that I am a hedonistic male, and I refuse to succumb to the fanatics of religious extremism.

And I'm proud of the fact I am a libertarian on the Greatest Nation on the Green Earth! No one can strip me of my love of liberty, my love of Ireland, whose culture has influenced the entire world! No one can take away my pride. No one can take away the disdain I have for the IRA who wish to destroy this nation, the Catholic Church (and other conservative religious groups) and its crusade against freedom, the US Government for its degrating of Europe and it's forcing upon the world its pro-death outlooks, or of the anti-sexual Front, trying to push upon the world to force hatred of sexuality as normal. I will not tolerate it EVER! (Note: It's not asexuals I don't tolerate, it's the radical ones who are trying to shove their views down our throats -- no pun is there)

I've seen many a thread praising the fact that they're gay, or they're muslim, or they're a gay muslim. You know what? Fine, but I'm proud of who I am, too!

I am an Irishman. I live in Ranelagh, Dublin 6. Today I was in my friend's house in Blessington. Yesterday I was taking photographs with another friend along the Grand Canal between Harold's Cross and Drimnagh. So yes I live in Dublin and I am really Irish.

Yeah I'm for free trade, but like the EU, America imposes many trade sanctions and protectionist measures on third world countries which keeps them impoverished.

The US government is pro-death. It kills more people than most other governments. It is one of the only western countries to continue with the moral travesty of the death penalty, and the slimy bastards will do anything to start a war somewhere if there is some national or corporate interest to be had.

It's because Derscon took the view of one of the most reviled types on this forum and thumbed his nose at all of you.

You took the view of the most represented group on the whole forum and say "Hey aren't we cool?!" and everyone else is like "Yeah, I suppose we are"

I am absolutley pro-death penalty, but not what they have got now, we need to go back to simpler times. It is just a matter of economcs.

As nice as pride of any facet of yourself is... it is VERY ignorant to shove it in in someone's face. This is true regardless of race, gender, creed, political affiliation, or sexual preference.

Face shoving is generally ignorant, but it is additionally ignorant in this case.

(This wasn't meant to be flamey, it was meant to point out that rubbing facets of yourself in the faces of others is bad. If you think it was flamey... Bug me or something and I'll clarify.)

If one feels the need to publically declare pride in one's self, one is often using the declarative statement as a form of self assurance - hence, a contradiction lies between the supposed pride, and the insecurity evident in the declaration.
