23% is the amount of pollution america causes the world.
They wont sign up to limit the green-house effect, as they say it may effect and slow down the economy.
Yet the leaders of the USofA refuse to trade with any country that has been involved in any enemy millitary action against america.
Economy?

Personally, I'm an apocalyptic kind of guy. However, I dont think humans will be wiped out, we'll just get a really hard kick in the ass first.

I dont know if anyone but me has noticed, but the skies usually aren't blue anymore.

Who cares if we destroy the planet? Short term profit is all that matters. Ask the government and corporations. They wouldn't lie.

This whole "global warming" thing makes me laugh. I think we should somehow stop every volcanic eruption that goes on these days as they actually release more greenhouse gases then mankind ever has. :)

In the mean time, I'll continue to burn coal, let my car idle for hours, use styrofoam cups, spill freon into the local waterways, and just be an anti-environmentalist in general.

Wow, your a pretty sad person if you think that's the answer.

America's pollution level half made me sick when I went to florida. Everything is filthy, its like the country is one big FAT FAT FAT teenagers bedroom.

You think pollution here is bad today? Hah. It was much, much worse in the 1960's.

Pittsburgh, PA is the best example. No place on Earth was as polluted. Skies were usually a thick, dark yellow, and sometimes a brown, and on bad days, almost black. The entire city smelled like a bus depot. It was awful.

The main cause was uncontrolled pollution from the Steel Mills. You had flouride, iron, coal, sulphur, and many other particles floating above the city. Thick, dark brown smoke rose out of the smokestacks from industries and foundries. You can find pictures of these on google... It is truly disgusting.

Pollution *is* much lower than it was over 40 years ago, but still, corporations do not care about the environment. Rather than upgrade their factories, mills, plants, and refineries, they pay fines every month for over-polluting. This is ridiculous. I really don't see why the government can't enfore outrageous fines to make these industries actually clean up. It would sure as hell make the air better.

Every time we tried Nuclear power in the Post 70s US the Greenie Weenies (the ones crying about acid rain, smog, "greenhouse gasses, etc) went and lay down in front of the bulldozers.

AFAIC, the "enviornmentalists don't want "clean energy", they want an agrarian, non-tech utopia with the US at the bottom of the political heap ('cause we're evil). :headbang:

Boy, America can be pretty unbelievable. We use one-fourth of the entire world's resources. I don't know if you've looked lately, but Americans don't constitute one-fourth of the worlds' population. we just act like we do. :headbang:

Yes, but i'd bet we constitute at least one-fourth of the world's economy.

Yeah, but you still have to live in the South. I'd rather have Pittsburgh's 1960's pollution levels than live in the South any longer than I have to.
