China's outstanding foreign exchange reserve hit a record 609.9 billion US dollars at the end of 2004, up 206.7 billion dollars from a year earlier, the central bank said in a report Thursday.
The forex reserve increased 89.9 billion dollars in 2004, it said.
BTW, how many products Made in China are in your home?
And how big is your financial support for the Middle East - or do you ride a bicycle?

WOW!! It sure looks like China is learning a little bit about this capitalist game?
And that Middle East thought.....Saudi = oil, and China = bicycles?
Kind of a Catch 22?

I'm a college student, and I walk places. Sometimes I ride a bus, COTA or greyhound.

Oh, my Chinese friends in China prefer to buy things not made in China - you know, quality is not very high on the agenda in China.

China doesn't produce that many bicycles anymore. I guess, Germany is quite big in that area. China goes for cars, they even go so far as to ban bicycles on their streets since they hold up car traffic and create traffic jams and are therefore declared bad for the environment.
Anyway, what I meant was, that the forex reserves of China come from those who buy products Made in China (not Chinese who do that, since they pay in RMB).
And the US as biggest oil consumer is therefore the biggest financial supporter of middle-eastern countries.

This link probably grieves the Chinese Nationalists (mostly overseas Chinese), since it lists China and Taiwan as two separate countries.
