[rant] I was watching a Cryptkeeper movie, a Vampire one as the title suggests.

Anyways to continue onwards, This detective makes his way into a vampire whorehouse, the girl ask's him to take off his shirt....

the vampire girl see's a chain, and fears it's a cross, only to find out it's a Star Of David.... then suddenly she's happy again.

I ask you! To all you vampires on NS! (Part joke, part question) Why aren't vampires afraid of all the other Holy Symbols? Why just the cross? Why not the Star? Or the Crescent? or the Swastika (Hinduism i believe)!

This is just another lucky break you Christians get...immunity to vampires!

[/end rant]

In I am Legend [Ex-]Jewish Vampires are frightened of Jewish symbols in the same way that classic Vampires are scared of Christian symbols. ;)

Glad to know that Vampires aren't racist against religion. ;)

But still...I think all holy symbols...at least from the Judeo/Christian ones should have an affect on them...

I always envisioned the star shooting a lazer, when it came near a vampire. :D

You're confusing that with Jews In Space.

Well the wooden cross can be used to stake the vamp I guess. I mean you could probably use a wooden star of David to that effect, it'd just be a little more difficult to stick a point that far into his chest. :D

Vampirism itself is sometimes viewed as a metaphor for Christian antisemitism.
The Vampire (greedy Jew) is seen as sucking the life (money) out of their victims. It might have been a way of talking about things that weren't acceptable in the general public.
I've also heard that the Vampire is also a metaphor for venereal diseases.

Well, when Vampires were re-interpreted by Bram Stoker [sp] and other horror writers, it was in an age when Christianity was the name of the day. So to them, the Star of David really isn't holy; the crucifix is because it's sacred to God, but the religion of the Jews, which is no longer the true religion of God, is not. I think. I'm not theologian.

There was no indication in any of the earlier myths, or even as I recall in Bram Stoker's work, that a stake had to be wooden to kill a vampire. That's something the movies and TV made up. Also, as I recall, in Stoker, it isn't just the cross that is used but the crucifix.. the difference being that the crucifix actually has the image of Christ on it rather than simply being a cross.
