UK General Election '05 - Who's Gonna Win?
South Osettia

With the next general election coming up soon, and with the Conservatives cutting the Labour lead from nine points last month to just three (ICM Poll), I was wondering who people thought would win, and by how much. Will Labour win a third term, and with as large a majority as before? Will the Conservatives make a comeback? Will the Monster Raving Loony Party win? Here's where we (hopefully) find out.
Apologies for:
a) not putting an 'other' option - is it possible to edit?
b) using the word 'gonna' in the thread title
c) posting this thread
d) making a list of apologies
unfortunately its most likely to be Labour :(

I don't like any of our political parties but I still hope to God Labour will stay in. The only party that stands a chance against them is the Conservatives and they're ten times as bad. I'd rather have a crappy political party in that doesn't wants to improve my civil rights than one whose members are incapable of articulating any polemic without using the phrase "political correctness" at least once. As for the Lib Dems, apart from the fact that they haven't a hope in Hell, my mate who thinks hard drugs should be legalized is aligned with them.

I wish you made the poll multi choice.
I think Labour will win, but honestly I don't care.
You have to be fairly deluded/hopeful/whatever to thhink anyone other then Labour will win.
Did anyone see the atricle the other about the BNP expressing fears that the Conservatives were moving into their territory?

Have they brought the internet voting in?
I don't know how I'm going to be able to vote, I'm not sure I trust my parents....

Nope. I thought you could get a postal if you're overseas?

I'm American, but I hope it's the Lib Dems. Some Americans are informed, you know!

Bugger! You might have told me your affiliation before I helped you get a vote. :headbang:

Rofl...what did you expect? I come from a conservative area of the country and am missing the tuition fees bill by the skin of my teeth.
Don't worry, I'll probably end up doing ukip not Tory.

 And that's supposed to make me feel better? :headbang: :headbang:
(I bet where I am is more conservative than where you came from BTW. :p )

I think Labour will win, but whether they win with an absolute majority or we get a hung parliament and they have to form a coalition with the Lib Dems... well, that's another question...

I'm an American, and from all I've heard it seems like:
A.)Labour is going to win.
B.)People don't see the Conservatives as all that different from Labour.
C.)The Liberal Democrats don't stand a snowball's chance in hell.
D.)Not many changes will happen.

The Lib Dems almost certainly won't win the majority in the House this time, but they could very well win some more seats. Their current aim is to become the official opposition by beating the Tories, which is unlikely, but they've been climbing ever since their formation. They also want to get rid of Michael Howard, which they could do with a 6.5% swing in that one constituency. Unlikely, but doable.

Rofl, Hastings remove Howard? Not likely.
I'm sorry White Hats...I just have so many things why I personally wouldn't vote labour. Be happy, I might not get it in the end, me and forms and post offices don't work too well. I have my dad's bday present still sitting on my desk parcelled up...his bday was 9th Jan.
And my town has had Nigel Waterson, tory MP since as long as I can remember. Not that he does anything except have an annual request for the actual numbers of asylum seekers in my town.

<snip.
Folkestone & Hythe, surely?
I dunno, it was fairly marginal on a three-way split last time IIRC. Just a leeetle tactical voting, and I'd have a smile on my face, almost irrespective of the main result. But I don't see it happening myself. :( British voters seem to vote disproportionately for the major party leaders. God knows why.
No offence taken on the Labour party thing BTW. I went off them quite badly myself from the time they screwed up the House of Lords reform. (Though I may well have gone off them in a different direction from yourself.)

Fairly accurate. Although I think that Lib Dems will be able to steal a couple of seats from Labor.

Was it? All I can remember were the vampire jokes and the interviews by the Local news reporters in the middle of rainy nights. Since I've been out here my current affairs part of my brain has shrunk to a pinprick.
And no offense taken. My best friend is varying between Raving Looney/Green/Lib Dems all the time :p
