Anyone wanna buy a mountain bike? :(

It's official now: I can no longer afford to chance another serious injury to my right leg. :( A serious parachuting accident at 53 and a serious bicycling accident at 61 have sidelined me. :(
My doctor told me that another serious injury to this right leg would probably render me incapable of walking on it without assistance. Sigh.
So ... I'm going to put my 1998 Ricochet mountain bike up for bids on E-Bay. Since I want to make sure it has a nice home, I thought I would offer it to my friends here on NS first.
Anyone interested?

I honestly don't mean to seem nosy or rude or get the subject off topic, but how old are you?

Seriously though that sucks not being able to cycle anymore, but on the bright side you'll have more time for walking which I find to be far more relaxing and stimulating than any bike ride.

True, but considering that the bike was my primary mode of transportation around my little town here .... Sigh. :(

I might be interested (depends on quality, specs, etc.), but shipping to Alaska would probably be a pain.
OOC: what speed is it? An special stuff (shocks, racing seat, etc.)?

How seriously did you mess up your leg? My dad went over the handlebars on his bike last summer and permanently tore up his rotator cuff. Is it a "never-going-to-heal-ever" injury? Or is it a "next-time-you-hurt-this-you're-screwed" injury?

Heh. I was on one of those a couple of years ago when I broke my leg. They're kind of fun, so long as they're not going to be a permanent part of your life. Now I'm back on my mountain bike. (Not to rub it in, Eutrusca. ;) )

Alas, I'd love a bike, but I am a college student, who's transportation expenditures are $50 once every quarter, so as to buy the bus ticket home...
And, those $50 usually come from my parents...
But, I do hope your leg heals quickly. Broken legs are amongst the more annoying injuries to get, as they aren't permanent, but they immobilize you for a while...

It has 18 speeds, shocks on the forks, a small luggage rack with rain-proof detachable carrier, , etc. If you're interested I can get more of the specs. :)

Thank you. I hope it heals quickly too, however it's taken entirely too much abuse over the years, particularly at my age. My bike-riding days are over. :(

It's a "next-time-you-hurt-this-you're-screwed" injury. It was a twisting fracture ... broke the tibia and fibia in two places.

So how exactly did you break your leg on a bike E? I'm not interested in your mountain bike, I ride road almost exclusively, and no offense but I'd trash the components on that thing in a month. I haven't ridden a bike without clipless pedals in over 3 years. I ride regularly and hard, I've been hit by cars 4 times and had 2 other serious accidents.
But you'll still have to pry my cold hands off my bars before I'll quit. I'm 44 so I'm not exactly a spring chicken.
My personal mantra is a bastardization of that famous line from "my generation" I hope I die before I get old.... except I replace 'old' with 'slow'...
I hope I die before I get Slow...
