Never Debate a Canadian

Never argue with a Canadian. They give no ground, concede no points and are full of an incredible amount of national pride. I have made the mistake of trying to be reasonable with some Canadians today. I conceded points, politely recognized when I felt they were right. What I got was kicked in the ass repeatedly and told again and again that Canadians are pretty much the best thing that has happened to the world. I now understand how people feel when a USian gets on the forum and says the US is the best thing that has happened to the world.
Its just my opinion but leave the Canadians alone. Trying to make a point about their country is like stepping into a fireant colony. They swarm and bite, swarm and bite until you flee like a filthy coward.

This is meant in a good natured, humorous way. Not as an attack on Canadians. I hope it is seen as such. I certainly do not mean it as a flame post, (although I am not sure what that is)

Uh sweetie, you're the only one getting his tail in a knot. All we said was we didn't want to be involved in the missile defense system. Then you bashed our military. We explained why it didn't deserve to be portrayed so poorly. Then you went off on a rant again.

Nobody was calling down the US, we were just disagreeing about the use of a certain piece of technology. Surely we're allowed to do that?

I'm not really upset. I just meant this as a humorous way to admit my defeat on the missle shield thread. Please don't take it any other way. I'm saying the Canadians beat me badly.

Oh, you so-superior Canadians make me so mad with your we-don't-want-a-missile-defense-system and your national-health-care-system and your our-president-isn't-George-W-Bush and... and... and the swarming all over us Americans. If there weren't so many of you, we'd come up there and kick your butts!

Then perhaps you should qualify your original post in this thread a little? Because if people read that and not your explanation, you really will find people ready to do a little 'ass-kicking'.

Sheesh, people, lighten up. This is meant to be humorous, not insulting. And I can't help but laugh as I read it. I laugh at those posting the jokes and harder at those taking it too seriously.

Scarcasm, or humor doesn't portray well on the internet.
We need official and tags.

I almost jumped on you, until you made yourself clear. And now as I read over it, thinking of it as a joke (The main post) I find it funny. Well done.

But it's not just Canadians, it's just us stubborn nerds who know too much about the topic at hand.

A big problem of mine is complete lack of argument staying power. Also general laziness and a overdeveloped desire to use humor to avoid conflict. Basically I'm Californian but I can't help it, I was born and raised there.

And after much deliberation and re-readings, this thread has been deemed 'funny'. You may now procede having fun.

Heh, We're (Canadian's) the most nationalistic people on Earth. We love out country, and normall I would slit someones throat with my guitar thumb pick (fingernail) for saying something offensive about Canada. But I actually agree with him, and his joke. We ARE too defencive and we really don't let others voice their opinions. Then again, I'm half Californian. I'm the only Canadian I know that LIKES Bush and is pro gay marriage heh.

I am a Canadian and I think I speak for most, encluding our fellow American's. That...what the heck is this defence system and how does it work? Why doesn't it work and when will, if ever will it work. How much do we as Canadians/Americans have to spend on totally uncertain unproven technology. What would you rather the governments spend money on?
It's like asking us to buy a car that really doesn't drive just yet but maybe it will when we need it and not knowing how much it will cost to run it? In fact we won't be allowed to even drive the car...

I don't blame us for rejecting it. I'm sure Bush will be pis@@@ but I hope he will soon forget about it and come on up for a cold glass of Crown Royal and a Beaver tail!

This thread had such great potential to become a classic, but you chose to kill it.

Well, you can't make sence of this Canadian thing until you look at the facts...
"they give no ground, concede no points" -We do, you just don't listen. It's like screaming into a void sometimes.
"full of an incredible amount of national pride" -is that bad?
"politely recognized when I felt they were right"- your "polite" is different than our "polite". We apologise when someone else steps on our toes. And it's only fair. We were probably in thier way.
"I now understand how people feel when a USian gets on the forum and says the US is the best thing that has happened to the world."- Again, it's different. When an American thinks thier country is best, they start a war to spread thier way of life to people can't live it or don't want it.

i am glad some of our american cousins are not spending all their time attacking us, but we must all rememmber that the US and Canada are dependant on eachother.
btw as a military strategy student, the canadian military my be small, but the training is far better them any other regular force in the world, and our "Special Ops" are some of the bravest and most hardcore guys, but they kept quite secret... they never make it on CNN coverage.

Who cares if the Canadians don't have a missile defense system? They have 10 million more people than Poland, in an area dozens of times as large. Any missile sent is unlikely to hi an eskimo and polar bear let alone an entire city. :p

All we need to do is seal off our border with Canada to make sure it can keep the radiation out...in the case of an actual attack. :D
