serious (extra-vague) question: what do you want to get out of your life? edit: make that if you could only choose ONE and forget about the others

Pleasure.
It's the sole ultimate good, after all.
(Goddamn it, I've been reading too much Sidgwick.)
I suppose I should add that it's pleasure for all. Not just for myself.
Peace. For me, my family, my community, my country, my continent, my planet...
Everything I do is based on this ultimate desire for peace. Utopian? Naive? Perhaps...but we all have start somewhere...

crazy utilitarians... (or not so crazy... i'm attracted to rule utilitarianism myself...)
personally, i feel that the only thing that is going to fulfil my life, to give it meaning, is to raise a family and raise it well.

Well if I had power I could do/get/have most of the things on the list, so which will give me power.
Knowledge.
i just want to be happy
Chicken and egg, sorry, but can you have happiness without peace? I don't mean peace everywhere at all times, but in yourself?

I want the maximum possible level of happiness. Even if I'm poor, if I'm happy what have I got to worry about? Of course a steady, comfortable income is necessary for happiness.
knowledge more than anything.... plus, i believe with knowledge some other things on the list will follow.

Option 1 makes options 2 - 8 much easier.
I still vote knowledge.

i suppose the only way for me to be truly happy is to make peace with myself...
but i ultimately want to be happy, so i suppose peace isnt what i want out of life, its a way of getting what i want out of life
i think

yeah, but this is a 'what do you desire most, only picking one option' sort of question. if you desire the other things, but know that money is the only thing that will bring them, then you desire money i suppose.
actually, this is more of a 'if you could only have one option' sort of question

It's a difficult choice, but I'll probably go for happiness. If I'm happy, then I've probably got most of the other options on that list.
Muffins.
hmmmm.... what kind of muffins?

Just to provoke a little. Isn't death the ultimate form of peace? Peace implies being completely content with your situation, nothing missing, no needs or desires unfulfilled. That, to me, is the antithesis of the human state. I want to have goals, and things that I strive for. Peace denies all of this.

My primary goal in life is my own happiness and comfort, which I reach primarily through material goods, wealth, knowledge, love, etc.

£418,000 in a 5% per annum account in Gibraltar. It isn't wealth, cos it only comes out at £400 per week - but I'd never work ever again.
Give me that and I'll take all the rest as/when I desire.

Happiness. Which would involve love, friendships, peace within myself, fulfillment, good health and various other things.
