Our Ignore List

Just a head's up: Anyone who posts such statements as "this thread is too long and needs to die" on a thread will be automatically added to my ignore list. This simple statement proves that such people are incapable of acting like a mature individual and is obviously not someone who I would care to have any discussion with. I like to have discourse with rational and at least slightly enlightened people. I enjoy civilized disagreements, as such disagreements help me to understand the world around me and those who live in it better. Those who crash threads with their childish whining are not only a distraction, but an all too common one.
The point of this thread is not only a fair warning to all would-be thread crashers, but to encourage others to do the same. Those that crash threads will find themselves effectively banned, due no one seeing anything they post. Let's take our forum back by taking out the trash.

What was this sort of action termed? Trollbaiting? I think that's what it was. Either way, it's against the rules, as I understand them.

I'm confused....who is "our" and what will people be "Effectively banned" from?

"this thread is too long and needs to die"
i was jsut wondering when someone would say that...
i would have, but then i would have been on our ignore list
whatever that is

Me neither...it's kind of like covering your ears and going "lalalalala" instead of listening to an argument you may not agree with.

It's great for filtering out unintelligible ranters.

"this thread is too long and needs to die"
agreed
I feel important if I make an ignore list. I think most people just ignore me because I'm boring, not because I have an opinoin they agree or disagree with.
It's great for filtering out unintelligible ranters.
Hmmmm...I find that most people get that way sometimes, but at other times they can really contribute to the conversation. There are plenty of people I could have put on my IGNORE list when they went off on a rant (or spammed my thread with dead baby jokes...I may forgive, Drunk Commies, but I'll never forget...), that I am glad I didn't 'filter out' now. If I wanted a forum that was always completely reasonable, and didn't include differing (and often strange) opinions or rants, I certainly wouldn't hang around here!

Well know...I assumed the original poster had tapeworms or something, and I didn't feel included in the 'our' bit of it.

Did you read the first post? I specifically stated that I enjoy differences of opinion, but what I do not enjoy are dumbasses. People who crash threads by acting like complete jerks. Crashing a thread with posts like "this thread needs to die!" is like butting into a good conversation I'm having with a few people and announcing "you people have been talking for too long, stop it!" Would you pay attention to that individual, or would you tell them to bugger off?
If you disagree, that's fine. If you want to rant, fine. All I'm asking is for people to exercise their ignore button on rude thread crashers. Don't let them derail the conversation and don't let them hijack threads. The best way to do this, IMHO, is to use the ignore list. I'm sure you have people in the real world that you dismiss because they're dumbasses. Why wouldn't you do the same on the internet?

If you'll read the first post, you'll notice that I'm appealing to the entire forum. Why would I say "my ignore list" rather then "our ignore list" if I'm appealing to a group of people?
