The I love Rick Mercer even though he's gay thread!

Now it was pointed out to me yesterday that my beloved Rick Mercer is in fact gay. The assumption was, of course, that I would stop fantasizing about him, since I'm female. However, I think that's just silly! I mean really....how many of us fantasize about some celebrity...and how many of us actually get to fulfill those fantasies? So, since I really have no chance of a wild fling with Rick Mercer in the first place, why should his sexual orientation matter?

On with the vivid imaginings of lurid affairs with Rick Mercer!

Rick Mercer is gay? Who knew? In fact, how do they know?

I love the guy, I think he's great, but I can't honestly say I've ever lusted after him.

He admitted it in an interview, but said he isn't really super-open about it because it's 'not Canadian' to know too much about our celebrities...which is actually true.

I've heard of Ron Mercer and James Mercer but no Rick Mercer.

And I wouldn't put to much stock in this, Sinuhue lusts after everyone. ;)

For you Americans, it is probably easiest to describe Rick as Canada's Jon Stewart.

If you look at nothing else, you absolutely must watch Pierre Burton's Celebrity Tip: How to Roll a Joint. It's priceless.

HEY! Just because it's true doesn't mean this particular lust is no less valid....it doesn't make my lust for you any less important..... :p

Phew! I was starting to get a little jealous there. I mean how can I compete with a Canadian Jon Stewart?

You realise that my lust is focused on my mental image of you as a fifty-something Dutch man with a thick accent, beard and scholarly air though, right?

Yeah, I have weird crushes...I would also choose for my sugar daddy:

David Suzuki
Noam Chomsky (I know...how terribly typical of me...I don't worship at the altar of Noam though, I just want him for his body:)
A University prof with a deformed ear, who was absolutely brilliant and quirky and about 20 years my senior.

I don't intentionally go for older guys...I just tend to really like wit, intelligence or political bad-asses...

After all, I married this archetype...and he's only 5 years older than me! Yay!

Well, my fantasy Rick Mercer must be willing to experiment with heterosexuality, I suppose:). But since I actually have a pretty clean mind, I don't really picture any sexual acts...the majority of my fantasies involve Rick saying, "Wow, you're really cool, Sinuhue!"

*sighs in contemplation...*

Na...I would never aspire to such a pointless act...a person's sexuality is their own business. Maybe he's open minded....

Maybe he would see how totally rad cool you are and realized that he liked women, too. It would be totally his choice and there would be no ethical dilemma.

I like that...but I think I'd get off on him just saying I was cool, even if he didn't like women...

I know, I'm sick. So sue me!

Shh! If the queers heard you say that they'd kill you for suggesting that homosexuality is a choice! They prefer to call it a mental defect, or genetic trait, or some other such thing. Anything but choice!

I'm not saying that it is a choice, just that sexuality is subjective, and that, upon meeting the right girl, a homosexual male might find her attractive.

Maybe you just haven't met the right man, yet. Have you considered that?
