The eutrusca thread.

Here is a thread to honor Eutrusca, whoI met today. He is funny and cute. So for my 800th, post I'm starting a thread for him.

He remains the single most underrated member of NS. I've seen people get so mean and ugly with this nice guy, and have seen him take the high road too many times to count.

I appreciate the maturity and experience he brings to an otherwise juvenile forum.

Thanks Pappy!

Eutrusca is a person effected by a superiority complex and who's "partisan hackery" goes ignored because of how he imbeds it. I don't know who else here pays attention but look next time you see a thread by Eutrusca, it is always uplifting the right and putting down the left, whether explicitly or implictly by its nature or source

I didn't mean it as a flame. I was simply commenting on the fact that you said that Eutrusca has a superiority complex (which could be construed as flaming) simply because his views differ from yours, or so it would seem.

Even though I am not a big poster here, anything I've seen of Eutrusca in the past year, I have liked. I don't necessarily agree with all his views, but in anything I've read, he puts forward said views in intelligent and polite manners.

If you don't like the guy, that's your perogative - but there's no need to publicly bitch about him or anyone else.

I like Etrusca - he is a often a very nice funny guy and a good thinker. He is kind and helpful when he can be.

That being said Cows is correct about some of the threads he starts. Also Etrusca can be quick with ad hominem attacks when posting on somethign he completely disagrees with and leave no debating points to think about (I don't deny I have done the same thing). ALthough, I admit I haven't seen him do that in quite some time and for that I thank you kindly Etrusca. Plus, I have been here for quite some time so I do know what I am talking about.

That being said, Long Live Etrusca and may his leg heal beautifully.

Love,

I really like Eutrusca. We have disagreed on many, many topics but there has always been an air of respect and light-heartedness between us.
He is one of the few people on here who can take their own beliefs seriously, all the while respecting the beliefs of others.

Cheers to Eutrusca, for the entire (albeit short) duration of my NS existence, he has been one of my favorite posters.

I remember those threads, but I avoid political threads like the plague anymore. I also only mention John Kerry or George Bush in a humorous manner when posting with Eutrusca. When you avoid hot topic issues, Eutrusca is very easy to get along with.

And referring to the Most Respected thread, I think he is truly a very good person, and that is what I respect.

Holy crap, you're Siljhouettes? Huh....

Anyway-that thread pretty much sums it up. When you argue with Eutrusca what you get is the argument you're having and the one he sets up for himself as having. He says he's a centrist and then waves the pom poms at the conservative agenda, and always with a condicending air. He demonstrates the common tendency to not even consider or even look at contrary evidence (once calling Factcheck.org 'one mans lame attempt at refutation' and refused to even look at it until it was hammered and hammerd away. Even then he just found half a sentence that taken out of context could be tangentially connected to his argument until you read the rest of the paragraph that clearly went against his conclusion.)

The dirty old man thing is neither here nor there, but doesn't help. Two pages of posts in the 'boobs' thread.....I like boobs as much as the next heterosexual guy, but c'mon....

In the same thread he'll lambast someone for personal attacks and make eight of his own. I used to follow his posts and call it out, but it got to easy to be any fun.

I'm sure he's a nice enough man. As long as certain subjects where avoided I'm sure we could eat grilled cheese and have a wonderful afternoon. But, I do not respect him as a debator, and find him to be contradictory to himself more often than not. He also has a common conservative disfunction of not understanding the difference in voicing an opinion against something and wanting to ban it, as he believes that all the things liberals argue against they want banned-speaks volumnes about their own mindsets, really.

As a matter of fact, according to Swimmingpool's political compass poll, Eutrusca, myself, and a number of people perceived as right-wing are actually centrist. I've also noticed that the ones claiming that we are all right wing conservatives rank far to the left on the compass. Perhaps it's all a matter of perception?
