Let's not bash other countries.

This thread is for anyone who is tired of hearing all the flaming of other countries in this forum. This is a place to post anything and everything NICE that you want to say about other countries. I'll start. Despite any other misgivings I may have about the US, a large number of their citizens are nice, polite people who try to keep themselves informed on various issues, both within their country and the world. Kudos to those americans who take such an interest, there are far more of you than we are led to believe.

North Korea. Their people are well behaved. Also they don't take any shit, which I like. Similar to China.

Just those rich enough to be tourists. ;)

The USA has some wonderful people, an astonishingly wide variety of natural beauty, and an interesting mix of cultures.

I think the people of Norway and Denmark are nice people and have a good head on their shoulders. They seem to respect others and seem to accept people for who they really are.

France has excellent food, and the French people I have met were all friendly and polite.

American people usually tend to have good intentions, even if they still make mistakes.

Have I entered the twilight zone? Friendly and polite????? Who the hell describes the French that way?

They are the most obnoxious and boorish "people" I have ever encountered. I am not even talking about foreign policy or anything like that, I am talking about directions..as in street directions. The only way that I can get them to be even reasonably tolerant is to speak in Telugu(I think it gets their ego up to help a poor savage) until they get irritated and demand that I respond in English. God help me if I try to ask questions in English or Spanish or my pathetic french.

Fucking frog eaters, I always try to help tourists even if I have to use hand signals and chalk. The French make me understand why the Germans were so quick to leave. Why exactly is it that the French deserve a security council vote and not the Germans? or the Indians or the Australians or the Brazilians?

edit: not even gonna mention sinking greenpeace ships or nuking coral reefs

Sorry, sorry, sorry. I realize that the purpose of this thread was something else. I was ust so shocked when someone described the French that way. I have never heard anyone talk about them like that and I was just ... well I dont know the right words, but it was an oddly bizarre feeling. It was just something out of the blue and I reacted.

Kinda like someone telling you that up is down or that the French are good for something.

Oops, I did it again.

Indian cuisine is quite tasty.

Well, the key is the spice. At certain levels, spice interupts some neuron activity and spurs endorphin production.

That and it keeps food from going bad a bit longer especially in warm climates.

I like the first reason better even though I completely made it up.

I found two things shocking last year...

The Americans I was living in with in Baton Rouge weren't ugly at all and most of them could find BR in a map (I prolly can't).

The French people I met in Toulouse didn't try to surrender to me and they didn't like cheese too much.

No, because then I would have to deal with them more than I do now.

Besides, all it would is for the US girl scouts to make vague threatening ovetures before the froglike cowards surrendered to the next weather balloon they saw.

As a people, our gene pool could do better.

For the all the French people that are insulted: fuck off, try to be more polite to guests/business people in your country, maybe they will feel the need to come back

The French are a very nice people, very friendly to anybody who doesn't act like an obnoxious tourist and start thinking that shouting will make them understand you better. Both their men and their women are damn fine. Their food is among the best in the world. Their countryside is green and pleasant, their graffiti is artful, and their architecture beautiful.

And, as most Americans seem to forget, America has NEVER won a war without French support. Except for the Iraq war, and look how much of a shambles that was.

Nice idea for a thread. :)

I'll just say this: I spent a year in Australia recently, and in all my time there I hardly met a single unpleasant person. Virtually everyone was friendly and helplful. I won't say I like everything about Australia (their government, for example, is hardly ideal), but I will say that for its people. Yay, Ozzies!

<Fails the resist the temptation>

Please explain to me what SUPPORT the French were able to give in WWII, by the time the US joined they had, no army, no navy, no air force, heck, no unconquered citites. As far as I can tell the only thing the French and US did then was swap VDs.

Your chocolate and strawberry croisants(sp) are amazing though, there is a lot to be said for nutella. Fucking frogsThe US is among the free countries of the world. It allows even their most stupid citizens to ridicule themselves in public. I like the US citizens for their courage and for their patience when they have to deal with stupid people and how they stay free and let idiots shout stupid talks, even when those idiots are ridiculing their own country. It takes a lot of temperance to resist slapping idiots sometimes. We must not judge the US by its idiots, but by their humble people who are defending freedom even at the expense of their own national pride.

The whole reason I startedthis thread is that there are far too many that seem to be devoted to flaming or insulting other countries. Please, if you feel a need to vent this kind of stuff, take it to another thread or start a new one. This is supposed to be a place that does not stoop to this kind of thing, and there are many threads where you would probably feel more at home. STOP BASHING OTHER COUNTRIES!
