when i saw swimmingpool's ns political compass i got an idea. what are the patterns in political compasses in relation to religion, location, and any other things. so i'm going to make a political compass and do that to see if any patterns do appear. i'm thinking of having a different symbol to show religion, the color would show location, there could be one or two random questions, like "do you like onions" or something, which would be shown by there being a circle around the symbol or not, and maybe something else. i need to know which catagories that you would think would be nesicary, or neat to see paterns in. i'm labeling this thread part one so i can see if everyone thinks it's worth it or not and what separations they'd like to see on it. then if enough people think it's a good idea i'll make a part 2 thread where people list there location on their political compass and which religion/location/ answer to the random question/ other things, that they have. what do you think? i have the blank compass here so far: http://us.f1f.yahoofs.com/bc/3f66b824/bc/My+Photos/politicalcompassexpiriment.bmp?bfaj6GCBrUo9G1Hc if you want to see it. i'll update allot during this and the next thread.

atheist american, and am sort of middle ground on onions, but leaning towards the 'like' side of the fence

i was born with a presbyterian mother and an athiest father, and even my pastor is very liberal. when it came time for my confirmation, we had about two months of classes exploring the history (and many permutations) of the bible, as well as visiting a synogauge, a cathiolic cathedral, and an episcopal cathedral, and we had a muslim high school student visit for some Q&A.

in his words (the pastor's): "you've all grown up going to only this church, so i thought it would be best to explore your options before commiting yourself to presbyterianism"

i hear stories of kids who were born cathiolc, and were confirmed as cathiolics, without exploring what they (rather than their parents) thought was right for them
