Just to let all you fans out there know.

The NS Political Compass (http://www.iol.ie/~roto/nspolc2.jpg)

The Compass now includes more than 300 NS players.

New:
Constantinopolis
Corisan
Potaria
Kervoskia
International Terrans

Charles de Montesquieu
Imperial Dark Rome
Lame Bums
Lries
Zootropia
Windly Queef

Chinkopodia
Roach-Busters
The Parthians
Blue Chocobo

As expected, the NS community has shown itself to produce even greater political extremes. For example, longtime holder of "most socially libertarian" prize has been deposed by Potaria, with an amazing -9.81 social score! Similarly, Imperial Dark Rome has deposed VoteEarly from the "most socially Authoritarian" place with his insufferable social score of 9.88!

Most Capitalist: The Empire of Jason, GnOoLoCoPeLep, Petsburg, Reinmar, Nova Roma (tie)

Lefties to Righties are...

200 vs 100

I wonder how many of those 200 lefties are American?
How many of them are European?

I'm guessing only a 100 of them are American, and the rest are around the world. Just a guess.

I did so for the previous version, here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=398003&page=3&highlight=compass) . Post #35.

It's actually quite difficult to establish robust clusters, apart from the authoritarian right-wing mini-mob in the top right-hand corner.

I'm really not sure you want me to explain agglomerative hierarchical clustering in detail. ;) I really only referenced in through habit in case there was anyone else out there who knew the theory and wanted to know my methodology.

It's one of many ways of trying to identify distinct groups, each with shared characteristics, within a population. Basically, it means the software built up clusters of like responses by iteratively identifying those individuals most similar to each other and allocating them to discrete groups.

(Clustering is a 'soft' statistical technique, BTW - descriptive rather than modelling, involving a fair amount of judgement by the operator on what presentation presents the most information. For example, I had to make a judgement call on how many clusters to use.)
