clue before i go to bed: the man is wearing brightly colored tights.
bonus riddle before i go to bed: a man is found dead in scuba gear in the middle of a forest. how did he get there?
the scuba dude was diving when he got scooped up by a water plane and was dumped on a forest fire.

I'm pretty sure that have been disproved.
As for the rock riddle, is the man a prisoner chained to a rock/boudler?
The rock is an epitaph, and the person who wrote it out killed him and dumped him in the middle of a field rather than suffer the shame of being wrong.
The rock was supernatural in some way.
The man was an actor in brightly colored tights. A combination of the bright colors and some wolf scents on the rock attracted a pack of wolves, who promptly killed him for wearing tights.

I'll assume by close you meant that my actor one was on the right track meaning that he WAS an actor, which is already obvious. I am a genius. :D

Somehow I think flying is a better guess.
Unless you can walk 50 miles from your nearest beach to your nearest forest, then walk another 50 miles to the middle of that forest, all the while climbing through brambles with flipper on, an oxygen tank that weighs some odd pounds, gear that is stiffling hot, and wild animals just aching to get a piece of you in their belly.
Once again, was th scuba diver supernatural in any sort of way?

Maybe there was a small lake in the middle of the forest and the diver was in it, but he got caught on some seaweed and drowned. The lake dried up over time and left the scuba diver in the middle of the forest...obviously he'd be a rotting corpse by now...

Noooo...he walked there in hiking gear or whatever, then put the scuba gear on. And died. Somehow. Maybe a weasel bit his testicles and he died from shock.

what do you mean disproven? it's the answer to the riddle, it doesn't matter whether it actually happened or not.
