sorry if i mispelt their names. why can't the two countries share the land they are on, where the people become citizens of either israel or palistien? then the land would still remain the holy land to them, and both countries would own it. the only problem i could think of would be construction. if both countries own the land how would they be able to settle construction? i think they could make a special organization that is part of both governments and is in charge of making building plans, all plans would have to be sent into them before they could be done. there might be arguments about their religious places there and tourists. they could make it so muslim tourists would have to follow palistien's regulations and pay to them, while jewish ones would pay to israel. anyone else would have to follow both countries regulations. organizations and buisness would have to get their own citizenship to determine taxes. there would need to be some way to make shure laws don't interfere with laws of the other country, possibly by having it so citizens who break the opposing country's laws only have to get punished if it affected the other countries citizens. i'm not shure about the current situation in there though, but from what i've heard it sounds like their still argueing.

It's Israel and Palestine BTW ...

The problem is not the native Jews, but the immigrant Jews to take land from the Palestinians for their settlements. The Jews waving guns and complaining about Palestinians are the settlers from other nations and more right-wing than the locals. Of course you have your Jihad-ist Palestinians too.

oh, ok. wasn't shure if i knew exactly what was going on. it'd be kinda neat if the entire world was shared land of many different countries though, wouldn't it?

And it's Jerusalem by the way.

Two countries can't own the same land.

Two armies? Two police forces? Who arrests whom? It can't really work.

And even if it could, two families can't farm the same land. Either a palestinian or an israeli person owns it, so either an israeli or a palestinian gets upset about it.

Split the lands in question 50-50, let them pick, and ban all militaries and weapons in those 'nations'. Put in a very large UN/US peacekeeping force in both parts for about 20 years and then litle by litle take them out.
Leave with a warning that if things don't stay okay then the UN will put in more troops for a longer period and start trade embargos(?).

I've been wondering, what do you do with the land west of Jordan after relocating the people who live there now?

Put the extremists of both sides into a sealed off area, have them fight till one side is terminated (everything is allowed apart from N-B-C weapons), broadcast it on TV, have people place bets. Winner gets the land.

That's what people have been trying to do for decades...No one is willing to give in and compromise.

This is mostly because of...yes...religion. To both sides it is a holy land. The fundamentalist Islamics will not accept any non-believers on hallowed ground, likewise can be said for extremist Jews.

On the political side, reconstuction and demilitarization will take years, years neither side have.

Old hatreds...This conflict will never end in our lifetime...

I think neither side would really want a secular country either
