America On-line

I have beenonline for 5 years. I have enjoyed talking to people from all over the world. The British are the best for banter. Everyone likes to call each other 'Slags', 'Bummers' and 'Racists pedophiles, who own big sheds to keep their children and recists posters in' but all in all, we thnak wach other for the games, suggest game types and always give a nice 'Well done lads' at the end.

I find the Aussies to be very laid back, anything you want to play, so will they. They don't talk much but they do a great deal of laughing and thats fine by me. Dutch are next, weird people talking about weird things but again very friendly and you can always have a laugh with a dutch bloke. The French are pretty laid back aswell, and they have the funny accent +when you get to know them you can talk about evrything with them.

Onto the americans. In the 5 years i have been playing i have only ever met one american who has said his please and thank you's. One american that i have had a good chat with and really got on with. Always accepting others points of view and all that. All the rest (and there have been lots) are some of the biggest fucks on the face of the planet.

They have been rude, bossy and some of the worst losers AND winners i have ever had the missfortune to game with. Never have i played a gamer who has called me a newby untill i played a yank. Never has anyone entered a room and demanded we play a certain map or mode untill i played a yank. Never have I met people who use arguements such as "we are Americans and the richest nation on earth" in order to win an arguement regarding games, movies, or poletics.

Shame is i know there are some cool yanks out there... but these are rare and i feel sorry for them.

I reckon it's not really the American's online who are like this- every race has its share of nice people and not-so-nice people. I guess you were just lucky to meet so many nice Europeans and Australians and very few nice Americans

of course, it couldnt possibly have anything to do with the fact that there are more americans that brits etc, so youre going to come across more annoying americans online than annoying brits etc

no, thought not

There's an ISP called AOL (or America On-Line).
AOL users are not well regarded generally.

you made a sweeping generalisation about the internet in general, didnt say anything about what websites you used, when or anything like that

jolt is a british site, yet in the NS bit i would guess that the majority are american

Hmm a thread whose main point seems to be that Americans suck.

And there's some point about being nice and accepting and open minded etc? Hmm...

As an American, I feel compelled to defend my countrymen. There are JERKS all over the world. It has nothing to do with nationality. You are exposed to more jerks from America, because Americans make up the largest percent of (english speaking) internet users. Not all Americans are like that. I myself have a very even tempered personality, and get along well with others. I am competitive by nature, but I think that is more about who I am, than where I am from. From what I have seen, many people around the world view Americans (in general) as egocentric loudmouths. That is probably because, just like with everyone (no matter the nationality), egotistical loudmouths are always the first people to be noticed. It's easy to generalize, and lump everyone into one group or another. It's much harder to treat people as individuals, who deserve to be judged seperately on thier own merrits. But I try.

That is my two cents.

Thanks for listening

Are you saying that all Americans are jackasses? That has to be the worst generalization I've ever heard.
