Help me with my album....
I am about to begin my first album and need some help deciding what to play. My album will have 5 origionals and 5 covers. Three of the five covers are already chosen and I need suggestions for the other two. Any suggestion I actually use from here I will find a way to let all of you hear.
My philosophy on covers: Anything, anystyle, cause I'm gonna make it sound like I want it to. When I play a song by the Beatles, it's not gonna sound like the Beatles, it's gonna sound like me.
Current suggestions(that will actually be considered)-
The janitor drives a cadillac-Papa John Creach
The beat goes on-Sonny and Cher
Come together-The Beatles
Talking Heads' "Once In a Lifetime"
Radiohead's "Creep"
The Cure's "The Same Deep Water As You"

hmm....cover bands are a dime a dozen. so are cover tracks. Find something that suits your style and preferances. Are you heavier or lighter. Smoth or harsh. Cool or warm. It is all about your band's style.

"The janitor drives a cadillac". Papa John Creach recorded it on his "best of friends" album (Grace Slick did the vocals). I'm not sure who wrote it.
Very cool bluesy feel, very obscure, everyone will think it an original. ;)

Like I said, my philosophy with covers it take whatever and make it sound like you. My style varies with my mood, and with what I want it to sound like. Anything you'd like to hear.
Current covers:
Losing my religion-Will sound nothing the same. Think more powerchords and a big baritone voice
Cosmic Castaway-Will sound fairly similar, but the intro will be screamo instead of wannabe rap
You'll be in my heart- will sound like an 80's rock ballad

a good cover that hasn't been done in awhile is "come together" by the beatles. Needs a more rocky feel, less upbeat. You know what i am saying, but that is me. I also liked perfect circle's rendidtion of imagine.

For a cover:
Talking Heads' "Once In a Lifetime"
Radiohead's "Creep"
The Cure's "The Same Deep Water As You"
Any of those appeal to you?

I'll have to listen to them, and until I do, we will assume they are great and they are being considered

Creep is teh suck. Once in a lifetime is so so, but the same deep water as you is a nice choice.

The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins - Leonard Nemoy
These Boots are Made for Walking - Nancy Sinatra
This Flight Tonight - Nazareth
EDIT: Actually by Joni Mitchell. I knew that, really I did. I've just never heard her sing it.

Once again my genius goes unnoticed. I guess my suggestion was a little too obscure.
Or maybe Branin just doesn't like the Electric Fiddle.

It looks like he noticed it:Well I'll be damned, I missed that. Thanks Neo.
Now to really freak out Branin, I'll tell him that Papa John Creach was the Electric Fiddle Player that was a member of Jefferson Starship for a while.
The guys in Starship heard him and were blown away, they invited him to join the band right before "Red Octopus" I believe. He was a spritely 56 at the time.
The song I suggested does rock though.
Hey, u could cover something from bruce springsteen... some of his stuff could sound good covered... just a sugestion, i'm not sure what song though
The End - The Doors (A shortened version, maybe?)
