Best New Wave band?

I couldn't fit all the ones I wanted to. I'd like to say I picked the best for the poll, but really I picked which ones went in mostly at random.
:D

If I pick New Order does that include Joy Division?
I go for Joy Division/New Order
Of these, the Police by far! I like the Cars, but not as much as the Police.

Huh.
Well, seeing as most of New Order was Joy Division, I am now officially confused.

Well not quite.
New Order are Joy Division sans Ian Curtis.
You have to give credit to Joy Division for naming themselves after Nazis without anyone noticing (not that they had the same politics though)
Of course if I wanted to be confusing I would have gone for Warsaw.

I voted Depeche Mode, but if Joy Division was on there, they'd have received it. New Order would come shortly after.

Whoo! Confusion is good. As long as I am not confused, which would be the case then.

Not quite sure what you are getting at, but in case you didn't know Warsaw was the original name for Joy Division.
And I thought watching the commentaries on 24 Hour Party People would be a waste of time :)

I hear ya. I almost pissed my pants asking "Is this really New Order"???
I don't see how you could vote for anyone besides Depeche Mode. They're the best new wave band of all time.

Wull, New Order was named for one of Hitler's ideas, as well. And you can hardly say that no one noticed. Back in the 80s, we all knew what the "joy division" was.
But on the topic of the poll... a very difficult choice. I have to go with Devo, of the available options. Many excellent choices, however.
Its really a tie between the Police and the Cars for me, but I voted the Police because I didn't actually see them when I scanned through the choices.
Two of my all time favorite bands actually, and I'm really not a huge new wave fan...

I was getting at that would be a good thing to do, since it would confuse other people and not me.

Can I shift this to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and vote for Saxon?
No.
I thought not?
In that case um, er, Devo or New order.
*flips coin*
Devo (They are not really comparable, how are you supposed to decide?)

No, not quite, New Order are Joy Division sans Ian Curtis but avec Gillian Gilbert.

The fact that the first Warsaw artwork had a Hitler Youth member on it didn't seem a tad suspicious?

No they were a B-grade skiffle combo who came on the scene about 30 years too late.
