Yaoi (Shonen Ai): Stories involving romance between two males.

Yuri (Shoujo Ai): Stories involving romance between two females.

Question is (for those enough who read this stuff) which of the two is better?

I do like Yaoi but only if it's a reasonably sensible storyline and relationship to go along with. I don't have any Yuri stuff but if I liked the artwork and storyline I wouldn't get put off by it.

That's nothing. I've seen far worse. Still, I am at a loss to explain the extremely high rates of paraphilia in Japan in comparison to the rest of the world. According to my calculations, Tokyo is probably only twice as oppressive as the Bible Belt yet shows around ten times the level of sexual deviance. It would appear to throw a monkey wrench into my theory of paraphilia.

Actually, the main reason Japan has a much lower sexual crime rate is because of a cultural bias that discourages reporting of certain sexual crimes. Voyuerism, among others is often unreported but very common. The US has seen a recent upswing in such crime, but the official reports are much closer to the actual number of incidents than in Japan. Its POSSIBLE that Japan still has a lower sex crime rate than the US, but its almost impossible to know for sure.

Japan has a VERY strange relationship with sex indeed. Sexual ignorance is very high among young Japanese women, some studies say higher even than the US. All that "smut" doesn't equal a good education it seems.

I've read some Yaoi, but frequently can't get into the characters, since I'm not a big anime fan. Slash is the same thing with live action type characters. I spend WAY too much time reading Spike/Angel and Mulder/Krycek slash. If so many guys admit to getting off to two lesbians going at it, I don't see why it shocks them so much when girls like two guys. It's the 21st century, chicks get to be as perverted as guys now. :D

I think you're talking about "Fake", which is IMO a rather harmless yaoi. No hentai at all. I rather liked the movie and have read the whole manga series. Yami no Matsuei is another good series in the genre.

Warping minds is great fun. We should all indulge in it once in a while. The youth must be corrupted somehow. :D

This thread reminds me of a virus my roomate wrote. It was mulitfaceted, he could tell it to do several different things to your comp. However, the fucntion he used the most was one that opened up about twenty porno sites on the 'net, turned your sound card up to full voulme and blasted out 'Hey, I'm looking at gay porn over here!" So many people got this virus that you coud hear this at leastonce or twice, every time you walked down the dorm halls. :D
