yes they do. in fact, in histroy class a few years back, we found their website. They have a childrens page which instructs young ones that their teachers and parents are lying to them.

They were in Ft. Payne about 3 yrs. ago. They recieved so much open animosity that they never came back. I honestly tohught that there would be a riot, which is kinda odd for a town of about 14,000.

I think some of your estimates on their membership are a little low, they still unfortunately have a decent amount of support in rural areas of the South and Heartland. Most self proclaimed Klansmen are harmless and simply hold small protests of affirmative action and anything else that "dilutes white culture" if they do anything at all. They have, for the most part, the same political views as the Neo-Nazis and ultra right-wing conservatives.

There are a few stray little KKK groups around, but they are met with so much hostility and disapproval that they keep it pretty quiet. I know of a group of them in a small town a few miles outside of Little Rock. Their cover is as a volunteer fire department. They invited my husband and oldest son to a fire department meeting a few years ago. Boy, were they shocked what they heard when they got to the meeting!! Especially considering that I am of Jewish heritage. We moved from that town within a couple of months. A while back a bunch of them had a meeting down the road in Louisiana. I guess there was a considerable amount of drinking and boasting going on. When their main speaker got through announcing how wonderful and superior they were he fired his gun into the air. One of his bullets came down and hit him in the head...killed him. And they think they are "superior"???? Ha!!

There is no comparison to your racial hate groups and your so-called right-wing conservatives. A right-wing conservative is strongly in favor of a moral climate sanctioned by faith groups, Christian and Jewish. They are and were some of the first groups to recognize and support equal rights for minorities here in the US. BTW, devout Muslims make conservative Americans look absolutely wanton in moral standards. Your Neo-Nazis and their ilk are psychotic wannabe terrorist types. Not so. I'm half Israeli and half Austrian Jew (with a sprinkling of Scottish, Irish, and who knows what else). I have a fairly light complexion, hazel eyes, and brown curly hair. Still, being of Jewish heritage, and a Catholic, puts me on their unacceptable list twice. I'm not sure what their standards are exactly, but there's a lot more they don't approve of than what they do approve of. So sad for me! :p

The Ku Klux Klan, the American white supremacist organisation, has opened branches in Australia, and has already recruited around 70 members.

The KKK's Australian operation is headed by Peter Coleman, who, according to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald, was a founder of Australia's extreme right-wing One Nation party.

One Nation came to electoral prominence last year, with strong results in state elections in Queensland. However, it only won one seat in last October's national elections.

"I am happy to shout it from the rooftops," Mr Coleman said. "Our aim is for a white Australia, a fair Australia." He said that Australia's Aborigines were "beyond help.... the worst of the whites mixed in with the black."

Mr Coleman said that negative press coverage of Pauline Hanson and her One Nation party's views was making people more outspoken. "You are forced to be extremist," he said.

Expelled

One Nation immediately expelled Mr Coleman from the party, and also blamed the media. One Nation executive director David Ettridge said that KKK "infiltration" was inevitable "because the media kept telling extremists that we were an extremist organisation".

But Aborigine leader Gatjil Djerrkura was unimpressed.

"One Nation party officials can talk until they're blue in the face about expelling people such as Peter Coleman but they know and we know they are responsible for giving them legitimacy," he said.

Internet a key tool

Mr Coleman, who said the Internet was a key recruiting tool, has been named Exalted Cyclops by the Imperial Klans of America.

Braches have been set up in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, while a second KKK group, the New Order Knights, plans to start an Australian chapter soon.

However, the leader of Australia's Jewish B'nai Brith Anti-Defamation League played down the threat posed by a KKK presence in Australia. He said that the "suit-and-tie racism" of a more mainstream party like One Nation was a greater danger.
