On your days off

What does everyone do when they are out of work or school? How do you spend your time? WHat days are you off or if you have a weird shift, what hours are your off hours?
I'm off on Saturday and Sunday....I work a normal Mon- Fri 8am-430pm. On my off days, I play with my daughter who is 6 and my son who is soon to be 9 months. We go to the park, get a happy meal, go to a local college campus and feed the ducks, play out in the backyard, paint or make home movies. Somtimes I go shopping on Saturday. I usually cook something that takes more time and effort on those days too. I love to cook and I can do it at my leisure on the weekends.
Sometimes I like to take the family to a hotel where there's an indoor pool....just to get away. A mini vacation. We do that quite often throughout the year. We've even stayed at a hotel in the same town we live in just to have a change of scenery. My daughter says..."mom, I wish we lived in a hotel!" She thinks they are the greatest things. lol
so what do you guys do?

heh, i only get 8 hours of lectures a week... and i only go to about 4 or 5 of them :)
so, in the vast amount of off-time i have, i piss about here on NS, watch dvds, videogames, hang out with mates, go to the pub, and smoke a lot of weed. oh and do the occasional bit of work for my degree :p
...life is good :) :)

i work in the college where i'm studying, and the hours fit in pretty well around my lectures and stuff so i have weekends off. I work every day for at least a couple of hours, but according to the day the amount of hours vary - like today its three hours, but on thursday its 8 :(
on my time off i go to lectures, grab some quick lunch, go to training, and sleep!!

I'm off today (President's shitaz) and the rest of the week. I have no idea what I'm going to be doing... I might go see the gates at central park later this week.
Party, sleep, post here, rock out.

not much, usually. I read my books (currently The Fall of Carthage), play on my video games, think (that's the big one there) and very occasionally I leave the house to go do something. Of course, I was out of money last week and my pc broke.... so I thought and read.... that was a long weekend.
I don't do all that much.

I'm a father and a post graduate student. What is a day off?
i spend very little time in lectures or classes at uni, so im free most of the week (aside from work) to do pretty much what i please
for example...on monday, i have a class at 11am, which ends at 12, then another at 2 - ending at 3
in total through the week i have 8 1/2 hours a week in uni, i go to most lectures/classes...mainly for an excuse to go out and see my friends
i spend the 2 hours in between with friends, having a drink and something to eat, then go home. maybe play a bit of football, if the weathers good i might go for a skate. i usually end up on the computer by late afternoon and spend the evening between the computer, playing a bit of guitar, the tv and eating. most of the time through all that im listening to some music as well
tuesdays and thursdays i have one class, so thats one hour a day when i have to be doing something, and the rest im free to spend as i please. which is particularly good if youre recovering from the night before - as i am every wednesday (tuesday night is cheap drinks night in my favourite place to go for a night out in Belfast)
its pretty much repeated throughout the week, until the weekend
Saturdays i usually dont bother getting up until quite late..watching tv or something. then if its dry ill go for a skate, or play football. i might go down into town if im in a particularly good mood
saturday evenings are without fail a gathering in a friends house with my close group of friends...town is much too busy on the average saturday night. we listen to music, watch a film, have a bit to drink, and in general have a very good time
sunday is recovering day...lying around watching tv, then a big dinner and then more lazing about
I walk to the park with my pen-friend.

All your days are days off when you don't have a job.
That's my rationale as well... but then I think... is it more of a job to be moaned at, non-stop, without pay to get a job, or would it be worth my while to sacrifice some of my days... get paid, and not get whined at? The result, inevitably, is procrastination. Just the way I like it.
And just to be contrary, I disagree with what you just said.

Well I have school mon-friday usually. I leave at 7:15 cause my sister drives me and she goes in early every day. Afterwards I hang out in the room of a club I'm in (IDS) which is basically just where my friends who are in the club and I hang out. I also do various theatre tech things and tech for some local bands. When I come home I usually just hang out, play some guitar or sax. On fridays I usually chill with friends and go into Cambridge or Boston. This week is a school vacation, though. But, I'm grounded. So, I just am doing theatre tech and skiing w/ the family.

I dunno. You should probably go check. I might have just made it all up on the spot, or I might not. I'm bored at the moment see.... not enough interesting stuff is happening. Not even a car chase.
So it's entirely possible that I hallucinated it a little. I mean... normally there isn't a soapbox bbcode, so that doesn't lend weight to my argument. You can pretend you did, though, if you want. I don't mind. Just put the little after-thingy at the end.

That's just a very creative imagination. One that, no doubt, has the aid of mind altering drugs, and I just said that I would like to purchase them from you. Something that can give you that much creative power has to be fun. Also, it is a movie quote from Animal House, reprised on The Family Guy because of its comedic value.

I had a friend namd Bic...
I never could get him to write.
Then I realized his name actually wasn't Bic, and neither was he actually a pen, and it would probably be a really goot idea to take him out of my desk drawer and not rub his head against a piece of paper anymore...

Yeah, I nearly got that one, when someone on a jet-ski swooped on by and stolen it. I had to defeat it in a battle of wits, by convincing it it should be drowning. Then it drowned. Silly squid.

that was careless of you. It claimed that I was already unarmed, and then I shoulder tackled it. That hurt. Then it gave me an evil riddle that I refused to answer, which went along the lines of "What are you doing in my house?" Then I asked why it wasn't drowing, and the whole scene unfolded with tragic consequences.
So.... how the hell did this spawn from a loose statement about how I'll hit rock bottom soon enough? That was careless of me.

An average weekend for me .... well, theres not many 'average' things at all about it, but heres an attempt:
Most weekends, I spend the better part of the day as a volunteer snowboard instructor at a local ski hill - teaching the tots (4-5 year olds). If Im doing that, I usually stay in North Vancouver and party my nights away downtown. Sometimes I get a little bogged though, with my real job as an Engineering Technologist, and have to come into work here on weekends.
If I get the time though - I try and do a lot of my cleaning and laundry on weekends as well since I have less time during the week. Almost every weekend I have some sort of function to attend with friends, in the last few months I've been going to boat shows and seeing clothing/board reps for wakeboarding in the summer with my friend Josh (who is a Pro-wakeboarder).
When I start to feel burned out though - I try to take little trips to different mountains around my hometown in the interior though. Most of the time I drive about 400-450 Kms to Sun Peaks, stay there on the friday night, then ride the next day, drive another 200 Kms to Crowfoot, stay there the next night (usually partying with some good ole boys) and go snowmobiling into the backcountry there to get some riding in. I also make random trips to Big White, Apex, Silverstar, and Whistler - because even though I prefer Sun Peaks its nice to have a little variety.
The shitty part is driving home after riding on Sunday, tired, beat up, bruised and sometimes a little hung over. With anywhere from 450-700 Kms to go its not a fun trip back. I then get in to my house exceedingly late, try to unpack and get some of my otherwise ignored chores finished in preparation for the week ahead... I love it! :)
