Don't we live in great times?

Really, I mean isn't it great to live in this society we know today?
Where we can invade other countries because a President is "running out of patience".
Where Americans can play police and us, the Australians constantly piss off the UN with our foriegn policy.
Where we can sit idly by and just watch the rainforests pile over and the pollution generally fuck up the rest of them.
Where one of the most economically powerful countries in the world can watch as 4000 children die per hour from starvation and waste it's money on a war against terror.
Where fundamentalist lunatics are on the rise, from both the Muslim side, but also the Christian side.
Where companies like Nike charge us near $300 (AUD) for a pair of their shoes but the teenage girl in Indonesia still gets below the equivalent of $4 (US) an hour.
Where every man, woman or child can have a guaranteed happy existance no matter what the class (mid middle and up) colour of their skin, be it white, or white with a bit of a tan, or even really pale white skin.
Where we care so much about politics we'll pay attention to our leaders, and concentrate really hard on the important issues (such as the money in the back pocket)
Ah what a wonderful place this Earth is.

Come men, today we shall fight to the last man! Leave no politician standing... ANARCHY is on the rise!
In all seriousness, our dumb-fuck of a President should be tortured, then killed. He should die a most painful death.

When I read "Don't we live in great times?", I thought "Somebody's being sarcastic", and yep, they were.
The world's going to come to an end soon, in 2012, so get over it. There have been worse times. We don't have bubonic plague to wipe out most of your friends and family, there's no smallpox anymore, there's no slavery anymore (or its given a more tasteful name), and so on.

Where Americans can play police and us
Yeah, we need to go back to when the British policed the world. At least they stopped for tea!

Its called Sovereignty and a big stick. Been like this for a long time.
Where we can sit idly by and just watch the rainforests pile over and the pollution generally fuck up the rest of them.
newsflash: The countries that have rainforests are the ones who get to decide what they want to do with them. Those countries want farmland, not rainforests. Too fucking bad.
Where one of the most economically powerful countries in the world can watch as 4000 children die per hour from starvation and waste it's money on a war against terror.
Right, because you know, that nice big powerful group of nations known as the EU is spending its money trying to feed all these starving children? Wait they are... and so is the US. In fact together they spend billions on it. Cheers.

And what exactly is wrong with that?

I guess you're not familiar with all those millions of white people in utter absolute poverty?

It's not like those shoes need to be bought. There are plenty of cheaper shoes that are just as good. But people are willing to pay that much for a name and a bit of flash.

Ah what a wonderful place this Earth is.
I would say that, despite all the things you mentioned, the Earth still remains a wonderful place. Attempting to refute, or point out fallacies of logic in your list would be pointless. So I will confine myself to simply pointin out the following;
If you don't like it, try to change it. Study the situation, look for ways to improve them, attain power or find a patron with the power to make those changes. If you're not gonna bother trying to change it, bitch about it on the 'net all you want. I should warn you though; other than some resigned nods, don't expect much.
