What happens to the old NSers?

You know, I just realised that I've never seen a poster on General that has reached 10,000 posts...surely they are out there? What happens to the old NSers? Are they deleted a la Logan Run after 9,999 posts?

Yup. It's one of the duties of the mods. WHy do you think they don't want us electing our own? no one we elect is going to be able to stomach that.

I wonder if 9,999 is just the threshold of tolerance...or attentions span achievable for the General forum?

No there are at least a few posters past 10,000. I find that many of the more regular and more serious and funnier posters frequent the Nationstates forum more than the General forum (Though perhaps that assessment's just part my anti-general).

As cute as the idea is--that players get the forum axe at 9,999--I've heard much better conspiracy theories.

Hmmm...the idea hadn't yet evolved into a theory, per se.....

I have to admit, I came for the game, but I stay for the General forum...sadly I will one day see the 9,999 mark entirely posted here.

Unfortunately, most of the megaspammers have not been able to the relatively recent low spam threshold we've been working under lately.

I miss some of them badly. Parratoga and NorthEastern Europe come to mind. They were in a running battle for #1 and #2 about a year abot. Each with over 14,000 posts. They were fun people.

NEE would post about anything. His dinner. Anything. And Parra was the sexiest racist in history. :(

It certainly wasn't the same after Forum 7, though. A true NS legend given life, it was.

yeah, I think that a lot, if not most of the people from F7 would have gone on to get really large postcounts, not just from spam either. By deleting forum 7, they pretty much completely lost around atleast 20 potential mass spammers. Me, TAR, MD etc...

we all shifted off to the SSA board, and started drifting off, before the server got fried when we all just dissipated. Some to paradise beach, some just dissapeard

So anyway, tahts why we dont have as many mass posters now.

North-Eastern Europe did it, on the old forums no less (meaning he couldn't spam up a shitstorm in the jolt spam forums) although the forum rules were a lot more lax back then, and you wouldn't have out of control mods busting up threads, clubing people, smashing things up and throwing people out.

God, I remember Forum 7. Where I learnt all about post pyramids and temples to the mods. Even tried building my own - it collapsed in an earthquake, burnt down then was washed away in a flood. Gave up after that.

This really brings back the memories.

I miss Berklyvania who was extremely funny and witty. Come back Berk!!!!

Another good one who is missing is Incertonia. He never was the same after losing a bet, which required him to declare that he had been converted to the dreaded right wing cause. Then he just disappeared.

it wouldn't normally bug me, but there were some really fun personalities that i would like to see around again...Paratoga, Beeker, even Inquisitors and Marathon were fun in their own way. it's mostly a case of wishing i could see what some of the new players would think of those old players; sort of like how you want to introduce new college friends to people you knew in high school, because it could be so much fun to have them in the same room together.

That sounds like fun. The second one, not the first.

It's sort of different for someone to pass 10,000 on the Jolt forums than it was back on the old forums. I mean, I could go down to the Jolt spam forum and bump up my post count 1,000 or more in a day. It doesn't have the same prestige anymore.

From observation, most 10k+ posters either fade away (Catholic Europe) or self destruct/commit "suicide by mod".
