Belief

I want something explained to me, preferrably without flaming. You see, I want to know why you can say that your religion is right without proof, and thn justify it by saying that faith is more important than proof. All other religions rely on faith too, so if faith is all important, then all religions are as valid as yours, even satanism. So why is your faith better than theirs?

That's a good question. I don't believe because there is no proof.

It's the bigger dick theory.

George Carlin talks about it. It revolves around the God question;

" 'Do you believe in God?' 'No' *pow* Dead. 'Do you believe in God?' 'Yes.' 'Do you believe in MY God?' 'No.' *pow* Dead. 'My God has a bigger dick than your God!'

That is the connundrum of religion, you really are unable to prove whether you or the guy next to you is right or wrong.

My policy? Practice your chosen faith, leave others at peace, everyone goes home happy.

Actually, you're wrong - there IS proof as to which faith is the best!

Or not. What is the point of this thread?

The point is to ask why one religion's faith support is better than another's faith support.

Aha, that makes perfect sense, since no one is ever biased when it comes to discussing why their faith is better than other peoples faiths. Or did I get it all mixed up?

Damn straight! George Carlin kicks ass!
I advise you all to give his stuff a download, no one will make you laugh like George Carlin.

I don't think I'm going to do what Hitler's children say.

Because I said so, and whatever I say is law.
Seriously, it's a viable reason, is it not?

You're asking for proof that proof is unimportant. It's like saying that 100% of all statistics are inaccurate.

what can be asserted without evidence can be discarded without evidence.

They are all correct just ask them. Every one will say they are the right one??? How about none of them.

Faith denys reason I think it was Galileo who said something along the line of " I do not believe that God that gave man reason would ask him to forego it."

That is a very reasonable conclusion. God gives us reason then says abandon it? HELP??

I'm not a religious person really but I feel I have a good anology to explain this. Firstly, in religion, other people's faith is not important. It's all about what the individual believes. For example, say you and your mate both have girlfriends. Should you change your mind and love her as much as he does just because he loves her so much? Hell no. Love is a situation that often has no logical explination, like religion. You'll stick with your girlfriend because that's what appeals to you. You could explain to your mate what's so good about her but he will still like his girlfriend better and vice versa.

Hope that makes sense.

Actually, I'm asking why your lack of proof is better than their lack of proof, not why your lack of proof is better than proof.

Faith is a valid form of proof. I've been through this 1,000 times, so I won't bother to do it again, but you can feel free to look up the definitions of the words "evidence", "proof", and "faith" for yourself.

I am Muslim. My faith is no better than anyone else's. Qur'an states quite clearly that the Muslim way is not for everyone and that not everyone will embrace it. If you ask, I will answer. If you hear my answers and still do not accept it, Allah commands me to leave you alone about it.

Hello non-logic!

If my faith says that their faith isn't real, then obviously their religion isn't as valid as mine.

Here's something for you: What qualifies as proof? Hm? Things you can touch(air doesn't exist)? Feel( thoughts don't exist )? Things that can be explained by science ( Same science that 500 years ago thought the world was flat )?

Can you tell me the line, and where in the Qur'an it comes from that states that Islam is not for everyone? I'm just curious so I can use it against people I meet in person when they argue that Islam is evil (AKA Family).

maybe, but what if their faith says that you aren't real?

Proof is what science or math has explained. 500 years ago science thought the Earth was flat, yes, but that has been proven false, whereas before it was just believed as true, like most religions :).
