What are your life goals?

Mistress Kimberly
18-02-2005, 04:54
I am just curious what everyone's plans are for the rest of their lives. Is your plan different now than it used to be? How/why have your goals changed?

For example:

My goal in life is for me to work my way up with my career, but more importantly, I want to get married and have a few children. I think I would make an awesome wife/mom.

When I was in high school, my plan was to go to journalism school, and get a job working for a magazine in NYC. That plan fell through because I liked drinking and sleeping all day instead of going to class. I ended up going to community college to get an associate of science degree, and now am just working trying to do the best I can. Always makes me wonder what I could have done if I had made different choices.

Your turn!!!

The aim of my life is to live forever.

If I failed my life aim I would just die.

My life goals include... well, finding a nice, happy job that I don't hate getting up to every morning. I would like to fall in love. I want, most dearly, to find a simple little place to call my own, where I can preserve all the beauty I see around me and welcome others with open arms. I would also like to go to university- and to figure out what I want to DO in university!

I completely agree with you. :)

My biggest goal right now is to complete the symphony I've been working on for 6 years now. It is my "Symphony for Winter" and I only get a few hours per week to work on it in between dealing with students, private lessons, composition commissions, and other things related to paying the bills.

After that, I want to go back to college and become a Veterinarian by the time I'm 40 and champion the cause of ending the cruel and horrific practice of declawing cats. (Yes, I am serious. That is not a joke.)

I want to get married and have a few children.
I used to want that too. Then my niece came along and I discovered I was too impatient with children. I still wanna find Ms. Right, however ;)

Same here, 'xept I just play on my computer all day long :D and neglecting homework. I hated college. I simply went there to impress my parents. Meeting babes was second on the list, however, but that fell through as well 'cause I'm too friggin shy!

I think I would make an awesome wife/mom.

No offense intended here, but you must always be willing to accept that you may not be an "awesome" anything. As soon as you become too sure of your own abilities you cease to grow and improve. And since you are only human, there is always room for improvement.

After that, I want to go back to college and become a Veterinarian by the time I'm 40 and champion the cause of ending the cruel and horrific practice of declawing cats. (Yes, I am serious. That is not a joke.)

I'd support that. When I get a cat of my own he (or she) will keep a full set of claws.

I'm gonna get my degree in administration of justice with a minor in criminal psych, go to cadet school, get my badge, and be a street cop for 3-9 years, then i hope to make detective, and spend the rest of the 20-30 years doing that. Then i retire, get my pension and go back to school. I get a masters in us history and teach for a while.
my plans have another side to them. I am dating the woman whom i would very much like to marry. We are both currently finishing up our freshman years in college. Halfway through next year, i move back up to chicago, where she is, and into her apartment (providing my own share of rent, of course, and probably cooking for them, since none of them can cook.)a year after that, sahron and myself get our own place. I figured out a good way to propose, too. I'll wait till she has a lecture class. i'll talk to the professor ahead of time, and have him slip in a few of my slides into his. I'll pop the question with the slides, and have snuck into the classroom, and taken a seat behind her, ring in hand. we both want two kids, and since we're an interracial couple, they'll have funny lookin curly hair. hair for which i'm gonna give them all kinds of shit. so yeah. as detailed as that may sound, it's in actuality, a jumbling of many different random thoughts and fantasies that one or both of us has had.

My goal in life is to have kids and teach them to be wise and successful.

Seriously, that's it.

Oh, and my path to get there is by haveing a carrer in the US Navy, preferably as an officer. I ship out to boot camp April 6. I'm currently signed onto the Submarine Electronics and Computer Field, but thats mostly a placehold for my package to get into nuclear engineering school.

Seeking imortality should not be considered dishonorable, but be wary of the path you take in search of it.

That is why I want to have kids, I seek my own version of imortality.

Yeah, well, that's how it's done. It's unavoidable. I can provide a link to the actual veterinary texts on it, but I figured a picture paints a thousand words.

I want to become a Vet just to abolish this practice. I will devote my time, money, and energy into schooling because my cause will be so much more listened to if it's coming from an actual veterinarian.

Honestly, yes, it means spending the next 10 years of my life in school even though I've already graduated college and have a lucrative career as a musician thanks to it, but these poor animals cannot defend themselves and they need a voice. Watch for my name in the next few years. :D

1 year: Finish freshman year with no failed/partial credits. Take advanced algebra over the summer in order to take precalc next year. Get a summer job. Better organize the rest of my high school.

5 years: Finish high school with no failed or partial credits. Graduate with 30 credits or more. Exceed 1400 on SATs. Get into a good East Coast or California university. Go to Bikram yoga teacher training. Begin to become financially independent.

10 years: Decide my major and earn a degree. Get work as a Bikram yoga instructor. Get an idea of what other career I might like or at least how I'll use my degree. Pursue artistic passions such as music and writing. Date, have fun with my twenties.

20 years: Figure out where I want to live. Find the love of my life, get married, have a kid(s). Be a good parent and wife. Be a Bikram teacher. Keep my creative interests. Stay politically active.

Life: Be a yogi. Have good relationships. Help improve the world. Keep interested and be happy.

Finish med school, perhaps specialise. I really really want to be a good doctor who serves the community.

I want to marry my partner, we want to have two or three kids and raise them as good people who're caring and considerate but also capable of thinking deeply.

I'd also dearly love to buy a delapidated old victorian terrace and renovate it myself, but that's just a little side thing.

This year: Finish 9th and 10th grade, start working on my associates in science and find an awesome girl friend.

next five years: work on getting my bachelors, get a hold of some universities lab to do reasearch and work on creating extremely small fuel-cells (hopefully the size of your small pinky nail :) ).

over the rest of my life I want to be part in creating an actual fusion power plant for commercial use, this will most certainly put an end to other power generation methods, create energy for all and the reaserch will help further other fields of science.

One other goal if I have the time: Create a machien that makes gravity. :-D

The older I get, the more simple my goals get. (Maybe it's because I've missed on so many of them thus far.)

I'd like to set foot on all seven continents (yeah, I know, but I learned them as N. America, S. America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia/Oceania, Antarctica) Got to get moving on that one.

Figure out one thing I can do really, really well, and teach it to someone else.

And, I'd like to make a difference in someone's life in a positive way.

Now it's a lot more simple, and I have more of them.
1: become female.
2: move to Canada.
3: become a well known historian specialising in the ancient phoenicians and Carthaginians, and probably have a few books to my name.
4: Write the great British novel. I've already started, it's called Freddy and the Daschunds, it's about this moron called Fred who steals a bus and tries to get to India to meet the Dalai lama and find the meaning of life.

Further down the scale, I have a few places I'd like to visit.
Russia, Italy, Japan, Indonesia.

And hopefully I'll end up in Valhalla. Doubtful, but one can hope, eh?

--adopt eight children
--enter into long-term romantic relationship
--establish utopian society on moon
--publish a bestselling book
--win the lottery
--become a construction worker
--become a famous singer
--invent own language
--become fluent in six others
--understand number theory
--understand predicate calculus
--learn to write left-handed
--learn to skateboard
--discover absolute truth, or lack thereof

If these don't work out, I'll settle for the first three. Oh yeah, and the number theory/predicate calculus ones.

Neat! (on both counts)

Hm...I may have responded already, but just in case (and it may be different from my original response) I didn't, here it goes:

Basically, many of my life's goals have been completed. I am out of my parents' house with a part time job that may become full time. I have a kind and gentle lover. I live close by my sister. Yeah, I know...not real ambitious goals, but I'm not an amibitious person. I prefer to live simply.

My short-term current goal is to start up a RPG group. My long-term goals are to get some of my writings published, start a little business specializing in handmade paper and stationery, and move to Canada to be with my lover.

My aunt has a degree in Lib Science. Apparently that 'overqualifies' her and means that nobody wanted to hire her as a librarian. She worked as a teacher for a while, hated it and, it being South Africa (no jobs), was forced to work in a supermarket for the next 10 years.

But I'm sure things are better where you are. :P
That and you're doing a double degree. *thumb up*

Around here you're required to have the degree to be a librarian. Though I've worked as asst. librarian, which is the same work. You just don't get the title or the money. :p

My life's goal is world domination.
Seriously.
All will be well and good when I am the totalitarian ruler of the world.
And then, I can have people make political jokes involving me, so I can laugh.

I. Get a double degree in law and business...
II. Get rich (I have a few ideas on how to. But I generally don’t discuss them…)
III. Marry a beauty queen... ideally a sexy blonde, with a kind and caring personality. We'll own a 5-bedroom mansion, and probably have at least 2 kids!
IV. Prime Minister of New Zealand*

That's my life plan.

EDIT: *Possibly president, we'll see...

Very succesful businessman.

Especially making my money in the area's of waste management that strictly adhere international pollution regulations and the Kyoto act and clean up South East Asia and hopefully East Asia.

Utilising the desert properly and cure fresh water problems around the world.

Get a smart and very dependent wife whom I can work my business together with, then raise a ethical and spiritual family that would continue making this world a better place.

Invest multinationally all over the world. Finally buy over Liverpool football club and turn them into the next superpower in the footballing world.

Smoking (i'm trying to ignore that as being an unattractive quality, so I can get more babes), ridiculous underweightness (A 6'9, 80 pound supermodel? YUCK!), superstars in general, and a few other stuff. ;)

I do have a friend who has set an outstanding series of goals:
1- get rich quick
2- marry a trophy wife
3- sit around and get fat while drinking margaritas and smoking cubans
Pretty great if you ask me :D

Honestly i have no clue. I recently changed majors. I used to be a zoology major, but recently changed to history and religious studies. Im thinking about teaching, or maybe working at a museum. Im just going with the flow right now. I do know one thing is that im going to Jerusalem soon, so that is a goal i will soon check off my list ;)

I want to finish my Bachlors Degree in Music, and get a Masters Degree in Music as well. Possibly a Graduate Performance Diploma or a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA). I definitely want to teach violin at a University or Conservatory, and either play in a good professional orchestra or be in a respectable string quartet. Right now I'm leaning towards the String Quartet, but who knows. I also want to serve a mission for my church and be married in the temple. Oh yeah and raise a family with my wife. I think that's it. After I do all that maybe I'll start thinking about how to get rich. :)

2006: Graduate College, Take my commission as a 2nd Lieutenant.

2006-2010: Learn Chinese and maintain my German while serving.

2010: Decommission and attend MBA school (Tuck preferably or similar caliber (IE, Harvard, Sloan, Stanford, Haas, Wharton, Kellog etc...))

2010+: I'm not foolish to believe in the ability to plan that far ahead. Who knows who I meet and what opportunities occur between now and then.

It’s not foolish to have some idea of where you're going. In fact, you gotta think big to achieve some things.
