Transcribed from the February 2005 VFW Magazine:

Dell Computer has pledged $17 MILLION to the Intrepid Fallen Heros Fund over the next four years. The first $5 million was paid to the fund in December. The Fund gives $11,000 to the spouse and $5,000 to each dependent child of US - AND British - military personnel killed in the Middle East.

I'd rather the money was going on finding a cure for cancer or actually rebuilding Iraq, but i guess all charity is good charity. Even if it's probably marketing-motivated. :p

That is a very classy move. Especially the inclusion of the Brits (I suspect that the Brits aren't up to a quarter-million death benefit just yet, so the money itself, rather than the gesture, means a little more).

Wow.
I started liking Dell since the comps they make started being halfway decent, and i've heard good things about their tech support, and miscellaneous other things, but this yanks 'em up a few places in the old good books.
Three cheers for Dell!

Now, now. Being opposed to the war doesn't mean you're in favor of seeing widows, widowers, and kids lose their husbands or wives, parents, and livelihood all at once.

One of key the reasons the Jewihs lobbby wanted Saddam head on a platter...was that Saddam was paying compensation to the Families of Palestinean Kamikaze Bombers.

<<Preemtive "but they are evil terrrorists Blah-Blah"<<

To the Jews the Arabs are the Terrorist ...and to the Arabs the Jews are the Terrorists...

To the Iraquis the USmarines are the terrorists...

and to the rest world they are all terrorist...

. . . Yeah. What the hell? Dell did forget Poland!

If our name is going to be exploited for the sake of political gain, we better get a little scratch for our fallen brothers and sisters!

Pony up Dell. You heard what George said. We're in on this deal too.

To the Iraquis the USmarines are the terrorists...
To some Iraqi's, namely the insurgents, the vast majority of Iraqi's don't like the fact that the US troops are there, but they certainly don't view them as terrorists.

and to the rest world they are all terrorist...
I'd bet there's some people in Southeast Asia who would disagree...

And beyond that, I'd like to draw a distinction. The suicide bombers who Saddam funded were paid specifically to die, whilst US troops on the other hand are paid to fight. If they die, then it's a tragic job-risk, but not the goal. And beyond that, the goal of the US troops isn't to blow up children in a shopping mall.

....whilst US troops on the other hand are paid to fight. If they die, then it's a tragic job-risk...the US troops are paid to impose the Govs will...they are paid to shoot and kill, the "enemy"...sometimes to injure and torture the "enemy"...To force them into submision...

All the Soldiers have the same job...Germans, Japanese, Americans, Russians, they all want to make you surrender...differnt uniforms...same message.

"surrender or you and your familly will suffer" that is the mesage of the Soldiers..."surrrender or it will be hell for you"...

That is terror.

No, terrorism is the deliberate targeting of noncombatants. Associated with this is the use of suicide bombers, even sending children to blow themselves up. Don't recall the last US suicide bomber, or any deliberate attempts to harm civilians ...

Didn't we clear up the "terror" def. in another thread? I thought the outcome of that discussion was that "terrorism" was any tactic intended to inspire terror. Yeah, the most common way of doing this is through violence against noncombatants, but random bombings against police stations or military facilities (or even roadside IEDs) are also "terrorist" in nature.
