Who do you think it was. I go with Catholic for several reasons.

- They tried an armed uprising (Northern rebellion of 1569)
- They were larger in number
- They had allies in arms reach (France, Spain, Mary Queen of Scots)

and various other reasons. But I am interested to see what you think and why.

I didn't think the Puritans posed much of a threat, as they had no outside help from other European countries, unlike the Catholics. The Puritans were still to much of a minority group, namely because of their view that only a certain number of people would be saved and go to heaven. And this was them. This was off-putting to most non-Puritans, as it meant they wouldn't go to heaven. Admittedly, there were high-ranking people who were Puritans, but the religious sect would gain power and popular appeal only in the next century, leading, in part, to the English Civil War.
