Have You Ever Made Yourself Cry On Purpose?

Just curious. I find myself, on occassion, with the urge to turn on some sappy music, think about the gal I love whom doesn't love me, or occassionally something else (wonderful pets I've lost over the years, etc). Sometimes I do it when I'm stressed, and sometimes because it just hits me.

I have full control over it; I could just shake my head hard, shrug, and kill things on some game or other, but I just find it feels good to let it out without waiting for something that FORCES the tears.

Anyone else do anything similar?

I really need to learn how to express emotion. Learning how to outright bawl would we great. I bottle up way too much emotion.

I cry to let things out, but it's not really on purpose.

I have made myself cry before because I'm a manipulative bitch though. Does that count?

No, I never cry on purpose. as a matter of fact I ony cry when thinking about a certain subject. No that subject is not my mothers slow, painful, and upcoming death due to cancer. That one actually makes me kind of happy.

Probably when I was a kid and wanted candy or something, kids can be smart that way.

I think the real question we all need to ask ourselves is, have you ever made someone else cry on purpose.

WAIT!!! NOOO!!!! My inane random comment made sense!

Shit, I'm too coherent when I'm depressed. That's no fun.

Yes, I have made myself cry on purpose.

But that was my unholy acting talent!

But aside from that, I have felt myself become more emotional in the last year. I find myself tearing up at happy parts in movies. I won't even mention Passion of the Christ. I have gone from emotionless to extremely emotional. Damn women.

Certainly. Every time I fell over or hurt myself in any way 'til the age of (hmmm?) 6. Always check first if anyone saw you. If not, it's useless to cry. If someone did see you, cry as heartbreakingly as you can.

Incenjucarania: I used to do that too when I was a teenager.

I was confused for a bit. I had thought that a towel would be far more useful for getting dry than unholy acting talent...

Haven't, actually. Closest is I've read the book, "Choke", by the same author, reccomended to me by the gal I usually cry about, heh.

She has. Um. Interesting tastes.

I can no longer cry over girls. Too much heartbreak does that for us I guess. Just emotional movies now.

Well I don't know about the book, so I don't know if it has the part with the support groups? Kinda like an extreme version of what you do. Seriously though, if it's therapudic [and it's at the right price :)] then more power to ya!

Depressives actually like being depressed. Makes them feel self-important, so they cry as a means of catharsis!

This is true. When I used to be manic depressive I would listen to depressing music, read depressing things, and write depressing things. I am glad I overcame the worst of that.

Hrmn, well, I am mildly manic-depressive... just find that the occassional bit of tears feels good. Call it a bit of emotional masochism, perhaps. I figure its the same reason people go to movies they know'll make them tear up.

---

Yeah, Choke was about a guy who was getting 'help' from a 'support group' on nymphomania.. more that it got him access to equally horny people.

That was one fricking weird book... and a good lesson in why you should avoid the hell out of anal beads if you have self-destructive tendancies.

I hate being depressed because it makes me feel like I have no self-worth. I'd rather spend my life in an oblivious manic haze full-time rather than part-time, if I had the choice. It would be a pointless existence, but I wouldn't care.

Yes, if my eyes get dry and itchy it stops the itchyness. Crying, easier than going out and getting saline drops.
