My home is part of the New York Tri-State Area so... a lot.

Right now, I'm in Akita, Japan. So I guess if you take Oga, Akita City, and the soon-to-be-created Katakami City, there's around... I don't know, 500,000 people.

I guess I should post, since it's my thread. I grew up in the Kansas City metro area--about 1.8 million people, if I remember correctly. I currently live in Maebashi, Japan. According to wikipedia, Maebashi has a population of 284,768.

Well, you could say several million due to our proximity to Toronto, but I put 100000-499999 because I only included Halton region (about 250k) and Hamilton (about 300k). Wow, I realize my math is wrong, meh.

My city alone has just over a million. But its part of an area that is really sprawling, i can ride the train some 80-100 kilometers and nearly never leave populated stretches. The rhine area and the ruhr area are the most densely populated regions in Europe and grow to be one big sprawl with in the next decades.

We're sometimes considered part of the NYC metropolitan area, but I think we deserve our own independant metro area.
