i have been accused, most recently, a good five minutes ago, of having no feelings. they may be right. i am trying to get in touch with what i should apparently be feeling as a person.
so what upsets you? hurts your feelings? saddens you? i know the obvious worldly things like child abuse and hunger and that crap. i mean on a personal level......

I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.

I dunno who said you had no feelings or why, but I promise you that you do. You're human and all humans have emotions. It's an unavoidable part of our evolution.

How often do you tell her you love her? I heard once that men show their love by doing things for their SO, while women prefer to tell their men that they love them.

Everybody has negative emotions. I believe you can get attached to things and, if you give me a few moments, I can probably prove it. As for not being able to feel bad about things, also not true! Perhaps the person telling you this is making a piss-poor attempt at social engineering an emotive reponse out of you. Or, if it's a guy who isn't family, is just trying to get laid.

Oh you know, the usual:
small children laughing

cute wittle kittens
cuddly fuzzy lambs

So...whenever you see anything of these things, avoid/destroy them at all costs to avoid feeling bad.

As to the actual subject, I usually get hurt when people point out the motivations behind my tactics and make me seem like just another critical jackass no closer to the truth. Then I get depressed.
If you're into poking holes in other's arguments this might apply to you too.
Actually, since you posted this thread you seem to have found something that hurts you anyway.

It upsets me when people i love leave me, even when its my own fualt it still hurts.

It takes a lot of crap to hurt me, normally. Except, of course, when women are involved. Then, like all other men, I become infantile in my emoting. Basically, i get a tad upset (jsut a littel, but sharply) when she doesn't call when seh says she will. Just things like that. I dunno. It doesn't hurt much.
What really upsets me is the 300 miles that lie between us. My arms are 2 and a half feet long. Hers are a little shorter. That doesn't quite cut it. I can deal with it during the day, but it gets really hard after i get off the phone with her at night. I start missing things that are actually kind of unpleasant, like the bruises i get on my shoulders where seh sometimes chews on me for no particular reason (when confronted, she smiles in that way she knows me to be powerless against, and says in the voice she knows i can't resist" but i like it!" Then i sigh, and present the other shoulder) or the mouthful of hair i always get when we sleep together (not the fun sleep together, there's nothing uncomfortable about that, except that one time she did the thing with her hips, and i couldn't turn my head to the left for almost a week.) That was a run-on sentence, and I don't care.

Honestly, the one thing that upsets me is slackers. You know, people who don't want to work hard. I'll give you an example:

I'm a guy performing in a musical for my school (no jokes, please). And the other guys who are in this show don't seem to care at all about doing a good job. They would rather just chat with the girls or do stupid things for attention. They couldn't care less about actually doing what they signed up for, or actually working hard to put on a good production. They complain when rehearsals run over time, and blame the director when they make mistakes. Some of the girls are just as bad, btw. But to me, they just can't work hard, even if it is for something unimportant compared to school.

Sorry for a bit of a rant, but it's people like them who upset me.

I find ennerving people who cannot understand the idea you are expressing. I am a very social person, I know, for example, how to interpret another person's body language in order to understand him/her ideas, and express my own. There are many ways of understanding a person ofcourse. However, today, especially young people has somewhat severed this connection with his fellow neighbour, everyone thinks then that the other cannot understand him/her. This kinf of ' alienation ' is common today. These people do not know how to communicate really, because a number of factors irrelevant to this post. Tis like a virus taking on younger generations. I find this ennerving, disencouraging, sad, upsetting, alarming issue.

I kind of see my self as sort of emotionless. However, I do hide that in back of a shroud of pretending to care. But it is quite convincing.
I guess my only true emotions for me is love and happiness, you can't make me sad for more than a couple minutes and mad for a couple seconds.
That isn't to say that I'm eternally happy, theres also frustration and boredom.

It's funny, sometimes I feel as though I'm quite emotionless... so I think I can understand where Occidio and Ramissle are coming from.

Other times... I know I'm passionate... and capable of pretty extreme emotions.

Sounds like affective flattening to me. I suffered the exact same thing. If you think it has reached a problematic level, I suggest you visit a psychiatrist and mention your concern.

And, to answer you question, what really makes me upset is when people are close-minded and refuse to be convinced, and, even more, destruction of Nature. I am in partial denial, I must admit, to just how much damage we have done to our biosphere. I just can't take the full brunt of the reality...

Funny, I've been feeling like that for ages. I couldn't even get myself to cry the other weekend..nor when I graduated. In fact I think the last time was my grandmother's funeral 3yrs ago.
It really sucks as it means you just feel low...but by heck was I feeling last night?!! I nearly got to tears....all because of the idea of someone using a razor in the wrong place, someone I don't even really know. I came out with this, about 1 spaced out hour later (he didn't do it \o/)
[02:02] <Knight_of_Ni> Is that it....I care too much? I spread my affection to everyone...people I haven't even spoken to...and care how they suffer? And never say 'I'm going to make you more special,' because I don't know how....

listen, as a kid, i saw many psychiatrists. not only do they not help, they have way too many problems of their own. if i saw one now, i most likely get medication, which is what i dont want. tried it- didnt work.
i would like to clear the air here, and reinforce the fact that i am not depressed. whatsoever. just situations that i am involved with now,and over time, have not produced any emotion. one involves a bf of 2 years, and another involves getting bored with another bf because, well.....i dont know. i dont feel any sadness at family deaths, even my cousin who was 25 and was murdered, or at my friends mom shooting herself.

but , i appreciate your posts on the thread. they are giving me a window of comparision, so to speak.

Things that upset me...

-Lies.
-Hypocrites.
-People who believe something zealotously, and have no information or logical reasonings to back it up with. Not just religion, but anything that's believed with a fervor that's lacking the power of their brain.
-Malicious, intentional betrayal of trust for a selfish personal gain.
-Really stupid things on TV - Like when Bart failed his history test and started bawling. I cried too... I don't know that that's 'upsetting' to me really, but whenever some char on a show really breaks down I can't help but join in.
-Close minded people. Not just in reference to the big subjects, but all of them. example: I have an ex who refuses to try new recipes because he doesn't like one of the many ingrediants.

There ya go :)

Lying, complete selfishness, hypocrisy and ignorance piss me off. Also, being told what to do without good reason for doing it. For example, if someone says, 'you shouldn't do x', but x doesn't affect them, I get annoyed. If it does affect them, then I tend to see that as fair enough, unless it's a major part of my life that I would have difficulty functioning without.

I'm starting to get less emotional in response to different situations, too. I think it has to do with the way you think. All feelings are triggered by your thoughts, so if some of your thought patterns changes, chances are your emotional response towards different situations does too. For example, since some time ago, I never feel guilt, thanks to me eradicating a series of thought patterns making up most of my conscience.

While I don't react emotionally especially strong to most situations anymore, I do have as strong emotions as before. They just have a tendency to show up in a more controlled way, when I want them. And then there is a weird exception: I have a bit hard to get angry sometimes in situations where I don't get angry even if I want to.

but , people still think i should have normal [read:female] emotions.Tragical, isn't it? Everyone just has to be perfectly "normal". This is a good example. Just be yourself and don't let "normal" people decide how you should be.
