Earlier this afternoon, I finished reading "Pride of Carthage" by David Durham. I am completely enthralled by Hannibal and all of the history and events surrounding him, so this was a must read for me.

If you've read this book, discuss! Here is the thread to do it.

If you haven't, then please go to your local bookstore or library and grab it.

This is definately going on my "James's 50 must read books" list.

I just read Persuasion by Jane Austen.

The moral of the story is: NEVER EVER give up a person you love to please those around you.

The end.

Can't I just read one of the books I've got? I've got one called "The Maths Gene". It's got maths in it.

That's ok; that's why they invented the internet.

It's an awesome book.

You should pick up Syrup too.

I just finished reading Running with Scissors, by Augusten Burroughs. That was bizarre, but definitely a good read.

Am currently re-reading, for about the 10th time (which, IMO, means it's a good book) Joust by Mercedes Lackey. I've read many classics, including the Fantasy type ("Lord of the Rings", JRR Tolkein; the "Xanth" series by Piers Anthony {good if you need a laugh}; many of Robert A. Heinlein's earlier works {such as The Rolling Stones and Farmer in the Sky}) ...but I also read some of the newer authors, such as Lackey and Lillian Jackson Braun (author of The Cat Who.... mystery series).

One never knows where one will find wisdom..... ;)

I love Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality series - never really got into the Xanth ones. Too giggly and twee for me.

I read mostly non-fiction, though - science books and the like. Sometimes computer manuals. Not very exciting, is it? :(

Just finished Laurell K Hamilton's newest, which is both porn and a book. I'm now reading "Drug War Heresies." Pretty good. My favorite book of all time is non-fiction too. Peter McWilliam's "Ain't Nobody's Business If You Do- The Absurdity of Consensual Crimes in a Free Society." I highly recommend it for any civil libertarian. You can also read it online.

Well, 'tween issues of Scientific American and online Science and Nature journals, i'm also getting through Brian Greene's "Elegant Universe", "Worse Than Watergate" by John Dean, "Diary" by Chuck Palahniuk, and due a few enthralling threads, the King James version of the Bible. I tend to have certain times of the day and moods to read certain things, like what i listen to. But i still find time for JenGov and maybe a little porn also but usually just what references there are to it here, like the one Drunk Commies brought up earlier.
I'm sure i'm forgetting a few.
