I was just wondering if people are as stubborn as I think they are. ;)

My stubborness borders on arrogance and stupidity. :D

I was christian, then became agnostic, now atheist. Technically I was also atheist before I started school because I'd never even heard of "God".

I'm usually extremely stubborn, but once somebody shows me evidence that I'm wrong and yells at me for a bit I usually clean up my act.

I tend to assume I am right all the time. But if someone proves me wrong (Not bloody likely, I'm always right.) I slowly switch the argument round so we are arguing opposite points in comparison to the beginning of the discussion.

People on this forum haven't changed my religious beliefs at all. So I guess I am pretty stubborn, especially since I think of a religion as a set of beliefs, and so no religion is right or wrong.

I feel I've gotten a lot of new information, but it has confirmed my beliefs, not changed them. Though I will say I don't put people in such neat boxes anymore. Reading the forum has me seeing people I disagree with as real people, and I find more in common with them than I ever dreamed.

I guess I have to say no. I've changed my stances on some issues, or gained a broader appreciation for new ideas, but I haven't changed my underlying, fundemental beliefs.

No one on this site has made me change my beliefs, but i always look at the other side of issues and i respect other people's opinions. I guess you could call that stubborn, but i think it's also just because i'm 27 years old. I am confident in my ideals at this point in my life, i am not so easily influenced by other people. I've become more aware of the world around me and within me. Certain beliefs have definitely changed at various points in my life, just not since coming to this site.

That kind of "don't believe in this country"?

Aww, rats, I missed the part of the question that said "people on the forum". Since reading the various replies, though, I have been convinced that my vote in this poll was incorrect. So I suppose my answer of "changed some" is now suddenly justified. Excellence.

I love doing that ^.^

Sometimes I'll even do it when I'm winning a debate, just to watch them splutter when they realise :p

I put other. This forum didn't quite changed my political or religious stance but mostly opened my eyes to alot of new things. Which is kind of good to always question yourself and ask for more. I think it helped strengthen me in fact.

It's not that I'm stubborn, I still think i'm right. :D

Theme and variation. (Other)

I have central "theme" beliefs, ones that are large and inclusive, and these barely change. But I have smaller "variation"s within those core beliefs, and these change alot. For instance, I've shuffled between centre-left and the centre, but I've rarely stepped out of it - and while still a practising Roman Catholic, my beliefs are now a bit more liberal.

Beliefs aren't easy to change. Ideas on the other hand. To quoth Chris Rock, one of the few things he said that I agreed with.

I was a smart agnostic.

Smart enough to realize I could be wrong, worked to make sure I wasn't, and discovered I was.

Probably in a similar way to me going from neo-Nazi to what I am now.

Umm, from Atheist to Agonistic (1)
form pro gun restriction to gun control (2)
other than that, nope.

1 - more of a realization. I still disbeleive that gods exist, but I am growing more Agonistic
2 - We should perform background checks, mandatory safety training, ect on guns, we should still allow citizens to own weapons. As well, you don't realistically need more than 2 guns per person - one safety gun (pocket pistol) and a hunting firearm. No need for one guy having enough arms to supply a militia for a year.

Note: people have not changed my beliefs per se, but the process of arguing against people certainly has, as it caused me to research several topics with somewhat surprising (to me) results.

While it wasn't necessarily this forum that did it, there was probably some influence, at least.

Changed from an atheist authoritarian to a deist libertarian. My economic stance has always been the same though.

I have changed ALOT. Ever since junior high ended and high school began. I went to Catholic grade school but I go to public high school. I used to go to church twice aweek (once on sunday, and on tuesday the whole school went), but now i haven't been to church in over a year and consider my self a staunch atheist. I don't really think there is a god at all. Two years ago i never would've considered myself a socialist, but now I do. Not entirely, but still A LOT more to the left than most.

I'm pretty stubborn, but my economic views are still up for influence. They've been moving slowly to the right.

I'm still pretty derned leftist though, at least according to political compass.

I voted no. But if debating with liberals, either here on at my university, has done anything, it has made me more conservative.

I was christian, then became agnostic, now atheist.
Something similar here. I was a devoted Christian (insofar as one can be at that age) until I was about 8. I can't remember exactly how I became an atheist - whether it was gradual or not - but in short have been so for many years now.

In terms of politics, I used to be very liberal on almost anything. Many things haven't changed, but, for example, I now have a very right-wing attitude to crime, even if I am still quite liberal on other issues.

When you get in to the specifics of Northern Ireland politics, as a child I used to be very much in favour of a united Ireland, but having seen the IRA (as well as others, of course) murder loads of innocent people, my leaning that way is only very slight nowadays. To all intents and purposes, I'm happy enough with the way things are and don't care what happens so long as there's no return to violence.

So yes, my religious and political views have changed a fair bit over the years.

I think this forum has not changed my beliefs or standpoints, but it has opened my eyes a lot to the various other opinions out there. I have moved some from reserved to speaking out more.. I've seen more people who parade around wearing a certain tag and behaving as if they're of the opposite group here than anywhere else, and I'm more inclined now to give them a wake up smack than I was before I started reading these forums.

I do this in my 'real' life as well now, also. Hmm.
