Ok ....so I'm on my way back from Subway, and they decide to have an "all request 80's" hour on the radio. They played "Head to Toe" from Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam(5 bucks says only 4 people here know who that is)....and although that band sucked .....it made me think about the 80s. Skating rink, big hair, parachute pants.....the whole nine yards. I remember couple skating with Scotty Millican and I tripped and fell in front of everyone!

What were you doing, thinking, what did you like/dislike........oh hell just talk about the 80s :fluffle:

Hrmmm ... the 80s ... I was in high school through some of it. I try to block it out of my mind for the most part. Some of the music was ok, but the clothes were just hideous.

TV stank as well ... Small Wonder and Alf ... now that's quality.

I guess I don't really think about it much.

Is for women to go back to big 80s hair and guess jeans.
(read: at least, non-Italian girls!! :D )

80s tv wasn't too bad. There was Macguyver, Tour of Duty, and Star Trek TNG. And MTV with videos!

Apple IIe computer games. Taipan and Roadwar 2000 come to mind.
Mac OS 4 had this optional System Extension called "Multifinder" where you could run more than one application at the same time. I didn't like it; it made my games crash.
Voltron
Exosquad
There was this cartoon show where teenager-becoming-man genius Zip Zulander uncovered a plot by evil corrupt corporate CEO Sir Luis Leon Paradigm to sell seemingly-innocent commercially mass-produced robots to everyone and then override their controls to take over the world. I forget what the show was called.
Transformers. The original cartoons, not these lousy spinoffs they have nowadays. ...or maybe my standards have simply gone up since I was 10-years-old.

I cant stand this crap on cartoon network and nickelodeon. Well Spongebob has some good puns, but Squidward makes me wanna slap him.

Hell Yeah!!!

Woody Woodpecker and Tom and Jerry were so violent that parent groups today would burn down TV stations if they were still on.

Well I turned 18 in 1980, so for me it is a little different.

Memories that stand out:

Thatcher and the Falkland Islands,

England sucked at every imaginable sport (except rowing)

The new wave of British Heavy Metal (Saxon et al.)

Audi Quattro

There are many more, but very buried.

I remember the 80's. There were movies like Back to the Future and The Breakfast Club. We had the New Wave and the last bits of punk. There was the Falklands War and Challenger blew up a few seconds after take off.

Latin America went into deep economic crisis. Brazil changed currency like three times. There were dictators like Stroessner, Pinochet, Duvalier, Suharto, and Marcos. Reagan tried to fight Castro politically, Castro won by letting people go to Miami.

The US boicoted the Olympic games and then the SU did the same. Then there were the Friendship games and there was Soviet TV programming in the States, and US programming in the Soviet Union for a couple of weeks.

There was the ZX-81, called Timex Sinclair 1000 in the US. It came with 2Kb of RAM and a 16Kb expansion if you needed to run "serious" applications. Used tape as massive storage. Then came the Spectrum, but it didn't make that much of a splash outside Europe.

IBM came out with the PCjr which flopped. Apple had the Apple II, then the II+, IIe, IIc and finally the IIGS. Atari had their 400 and 800XL and then XE. Apple introduced the Lisa in 82, then the Mac in 84, changing personal computing. Atari followed suit in 85 with the ST.

Commodore had the Vic-20 starting the decade. Then came the Commodore 64, which was great. Then came the Plus4 and 16, which didn't do too well, and then the 128, which was the greatest 8-bit computer ever. But their greatest achievement was the Amiga, released in 85. First the 1000 and two years later the 500 and 2000.

There were also many other now forgotten: the Coleco Adam, the Mattel Aquarius, the MSX standard, the TI 99, the TRS, the ORIC, the Dragon, and others.

I liked that decade, it wasn't half bad.
