I totally agree! I have Night Falls in Middle Earth and Imaginations from the Other Side. They're both absolut killer!

I have Nightfall in Middle Earth and A Night at the Opera. There is a lot more symphony and vocal kickassery on Opera, but I like Nightfall better.

I got four for sure:

The Clash
Stones
Talking Heads
Isaac Hayes (as studio musician for Stax, as songwriter for Sam and Dave, as composer, as solo artist)

It doesn't get hard until there's only one spot left. Now I don't know.
James Brown, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash are all contenders. Guys like Radiohead, the Pixies, Soul Coughing, Mos Def, Big Star, Magnetic Fields, and Nick Drake are also fantastic musicians/bands, but don't really have the body of work or I personally don't think there's been enough time or perspective to fit them into the big picture.

4. Usher
5. Eminem

Some I like but have a hard time fessing up to:

1. Maroon5

Most hated so-called "artists", but I'm not sure if it's in this order:

4. Avril Lavigne
5: Simple Plan
6: Good Charlotte

I don't really have an all time top 5, I haven't been regularly listening to music for all that long, and my tastes change every now and again. I'll say the current 5 bands I'm listening to the most:

1: Shihad
2: Radiohead
3: A perfect Circle
4: The D4
5: The Donnas (this is one that I'm not sure if I should put in an embarrased list or not. Anyway, I seem to enjoy listening to them so I'll run with it)

1. Black Sabbath
2. Great Big Sea
3. Evanescence
4. The Distillers
5. They Might Be Giants

The ashamed list.

1. Blumchen, all of it.
2. Barbie Girl by Aqua, although I still hold that this is the greatest parody song ever.
3. Discovery Channel by Bloodhound Gang
4. Zoot Suit Riot by Cherry Poppin' Daddies
5. American Pie by Don Mclean - The reason this goes in the ashamed list is because I can sing the whole thing, albeit horribly off-key.

I like Pearl Jam, but some of their stuff isn't very good. The "Riot Act" album is especially weak. Honestly, I wouldn't put them in the top 5 Seattle grunge bands, although that's not saying much as there's a huge saturation of talent there.

They were on my BDO list if I had made the trip up to Auckland, I reckon they'd do a good live set. I enjoyed the story that they used to play sort of bubblegum pop-rock as the Donnas, then rush off stage, change their clothes and come back as their then main band, the hard-rocking Electrochutes giving shit to the useless 'warm up band' they were forced to play with.

I didn't know until I was paging through a copy of Rolling Stone at work and it caught my eye, causing me to make a curious "Haaa!" sound. I think when they went with The Donna's over the Electrochutes they went more punk, and then evolved to what they are now.
