A large black ball, originally designed by Swedish scientists for use on Mars, could be the latest weapon in the war against burglars.

The thing weighs about 10 lbs and supposedly can follow a burglar around. Unless, of course, the burglar happens to be carrying a: 1. Cricket bat, 2. Baseball bat, 3. 3 ft. steel pipe. In which case this lovely anti-burglar device becomes so much expensive metal and plastic.

Haha, that was hilarious. In one scene, he's motoring a boat away from the village, and one of those balloons appears about 30 feet in front of him. For some reason he forgets how to turn the boat, and he spends about 10 seconds just staring at the balloon and making a frightened face, then the boat hits the balloon and the collision completely sinks it.

Those white balloons have to be one of the least threatening-looking fictional weapons of all time.

It can chase people taking pictures - if reporters from The Sun start stocking up, beware... Like the Prisoner, but this time celebs get pursued by the paparazzi ball. But how they expect future versions to corner burglars I don't know - if it's so light couldn't they just kick it out the way? And how do you stop it? What if it detects the cat and chases it down the road, then when it loses sight latches on to a car and chases that... :)

Seems worse than useless really, it can't even cross a couple of steps or a small wall. So unless your property is completely level or has smooth slopes everywhere all a burglar has to do is jump a wall...
