Canadian Independance! A Modest Proposal

Resolved; Canada, being an area that feels as if it is something other than part of the US, should declare its independence from the US and move to form its own real country. Think about it! They always say how much they hate America, why are they a part of it? I say, if you don't like the US just form your own nation. You could change the name and even make your own flag and anthem! Go for it! We will back you entirely, even give you a seat in the UN!

Not nearly as amusing or even thought provoking as J. Swift's original Modest Proposal, since Canada already is it's own country.

Might I suggest retaking Satire 101 and trying again?

Oh well, win some, lose some. I know how to admit failure. This thread was a bust. I will go silent on thread making for awhile. :headbang:

Ummmm.... if you think Canada doesn't realize it's independent you might want to pick up and read the book Fire & Ice by Michael Adams. Note the subtitle of "The United States, Canada and the myth of converging values". We don't share values on as many things as people commonly assume.

Darnnit people. . .I know Canada is indopendint. indipendant, indapandant oh whatever. . .That wasn't the point! I work with many Canadians over here and they all, all talk endlessly about Canada and what they do in CANADA and how CANADA is different that the US. I just think it is funny. I don't dislike Canadians, I don't dislike Canada, I don't dislike puffy candy. I just wanted a little fun, didn't mean to make anybody upset. Certainly didn't want anyone to take this seriously. Gomen (sorry in Japanese). :p

LOL

Mr. 31, how did you expect Canadians to react when they read your little modest proposal? Should we have bowed, thanked you for your enlightened insight, and promised to take it under further consideration?

We're polite, but we're not Japanese polite.
