Nobody is spiting anybody by buying one of those. You've not even annoyed anybody.
What I see is a $70 bear that people are selling on Ebay at humongous mark-ups. *shrug*

I'm mentally ill, and yet I take no offense at it. Neither do any other people I know with mental illnesses. It seems to me that the doctors are the ones that are against it, as they're the only ones that have been interviewed or anything that i've seen, and they're trying to tell us the patients don't like it for some twisted reason of other...

I'm not against it either.
But it seems to be an increasing norm today, that people with little to no connection to whatever the offense is are being offended on behalf of the slighted group.
the phrase "mentally ill" always sticks in my throat though. it applies to me, but yet I don't think I'm ill, as such. It's all pedantics though, I wouldn't go on a crusade to change it when most people don't have a problem with it.

The really mentally ill are those who construct a fantasy and refuse to allow reality to kick in to spoil it (ie the US administration).

Mentally ill is no more a stigma than any other illness. Don't get hung up on it. most folks today understand obsessive compulsive and other issues. There are special considerations to be made for you, but so too with someone in a wheelchair. Getting you a crazybear would be no different than sending a teddy with a cast on to someone with a broken limb.... unless you were the one who broke it. :)

Well just think how all those mentally ill bears around the world must feel seeing themselves being ridiculed like that. Poor things.
You should be ashamed of yourself for laughing at them by buying one of these offensive toys.
I urge you to go down to the zoo and hug a bear to make up for your insensitivity.
My wife gave me a bare hug this morning, does that count?

The thing is that some people still are hung up over it. I've had the misfortune of meeting some of them...
Luckily education is prevailing now, it seems.
