I'm leaving on Tuesday to visit my grandmother in Florida. My objective is to stay away from home for as long as possible. There's a cap on my vacation, though, in early April. At that point, I'm going to California to visit my sister and some friends. Here's what I've got so far:
Florida
Atlanta
Virginia Beach
Washington, D.C.
Baltimore
Philadelphia
Chicago
Is there anything interesting that I'm missing?

If you can afford it, go to Hawaii. Oahu is beautiful and the rest of the islands are even better. I recommend Jermaine's luau and the Arizona memorial..

I've done that in the past. However, I just decided that I was going on vacation, and I have certain authorities that require notice when I leave the country.

That should be cheaper from LA. I'll do it in April. Thanks!

I'm going to visit Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, this year. I can't recommend them yet, but no doubt will ...soon.
I do recommend the Greek islands. Avoid the mainland, but the islands are a must.

I love Alaska, but then I'm probably a bit biased.

Okay, if you are restricted to the U.S., I have do have one more place to recommend. It's called Seaside, in a State called Oregon. It's best if you arrive near midnight, on a warm summer night, and make your way to the ocean. You can't see a thing, but just listen.

Well, I'm visiting a friend in Vancouver as part of my trip in April. I can probably make it to Alaska. I like camping/hiking/climbing/general outdoorsy things. Where would you recommend?

Lol, sounds fishy. That sounds like an April thing again. I went to Portland a year and a half ago, and I liked it a lot. The city reminds me a lot of St. Paul, except the trees are different, and there's a huge mountain.

Speaking of huge mountains, I passed Rainier on the way from Vancouver to Orgeon. Very impressive.
The other city I visited there was Eugene. *Very* beautiful city, with an emphasis on the *beaut*.

Why not just point yourself West and hit some highlights between Florida and California? If you like natural wonders, there's the Smoky Mountains, Yellowstone Park, the Grand Canyon, etc. And guess what! They will all be between Florida and California, right where I left them when I did much the same thing! :D

That reminds me.... I've never been to Seattle. You think it's worth visiting in the Spring?

I haven't seen Seattle since I was about 10, so I can't really say.
(It was dark when I cruised though there on the bus.)

I visited Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon in September/October (among others: Rocky Mountain, Glacier, Teton, Arches, Bryce Canyon, Zion, and some cities, too). I don't think I need more of them right now.

Anywhere but Anchorage. Around here we refer to it as North Seattle, Los Anchorage, etc. You get the picture. I'm up in Fairbanks, if that's any help.

Dubai.
Seriously, it is the best city in the Middle East, and maybe even world. It is safe, it's airlines rule, it's beautiful, and it's full of friendly people and alot of places to hang out.
