Make-up Yes or No

Do you like make up? Just curious
Cannot think of a name

If chicks like it, cool. It can look good sometimes, but in the same way a vase looks good. Chicks without make-up....soo hot...

Of course I invalidated my opinion by using the word 'chicks' but oh well...

Makeup on women is fine. On men its a horrible idea.

Pushupbras, padded bras, similar devices should all be banned as fraud and false advertising.

I don't wear make-up, i don't like it, but i really don't care whether other women wear it or not. I just think that when people do wear it, it should be natural, because it is meant to enhance the beauty someone already has, not make them look like a completely different person.

I don't think very many guys realize that "natural" is actually natural make-up. Cosmetics aren't just eyeshadow, lipstick, and mascara. Pore-refiners, foundation, exfoliators, fall in the same category.

If you don't mind putting the effort into it, its no big deal. The problem is when you don't know how to apply it so that it suits you, instead of making you look trampy. You see, unlike a previous comment above, make up doesn't have to look trampy at all. You just have to know how to use it...

I personally don't much care what girls do to themselves. Since the girl I like is kind of fond of eyeshadow, I guess I like that, but it really isn't all that important to me. I can't even imagine having to do that, I think it's enough of a chore just to shave. Though hygiene is a completely different matter.

I don't entirely -dislike- a little highlighting... but I don't -like- it either...

I consider a girl without make-up on to be that much more sexy, because its evidence of confidence, honesty, and a lack of superficiality.

Makeup's like.. egh... Like having Triple-D breasts. It doesn't make you a bad person, but it's going to make me look elsewhere.

Also, I don't really want to end up with makeup smears on my face, or elsewhere. If I'm making out with a girl, I want to taste -her-, not a bunch of chemicals.

It's like with shaving, really.

Do or don't, not my issue. But my tongue only goes on skin.

Did I say reject?

I'm simply not attracted to them. I'm not attracted to penises or warts or a third eye or massive physiological disorders either, doesn't make me shallow, means I have personal preferences.

Some people like big breasts, I'm happy with B-Cups. So sue me. Doesn't mean I wouldn't associate with someone, just means that my first thought wouldn't be "Gods I hope she's single and horny and bisexual and has a girlfriend who likes to share" (My second thought, of course, would be, "And that they're good enough people and smart enough for me to want to spend the time talking them in to it...")

Besides, honestly, with so many guys out there going for big giant breasts and empty heads, is it so bad I want the opposite?

Personally I hate wearing make-up. And I don't even use moisturizers.

I have two exceptions:

1. I like a bit of lip gloss. Usually the clear mint Blistex is what I use daily but I do have the odd tinted ones for special occasions and outings. I don't like full on lipstick.

2. Halloween or anything that involves a costumed look that requires make-up. At that point it's fun.

Here I've got really hard water plus it's dry as fuck so I can't go without moisturizer lest I be itchy all the time. That and my medicated chapstick keeps me in less pain from dry skin/lips. Of course a big problem with the lips is that i pick at any dead skin when I'm stressed...

He never said dating or not, as I took it. He just said he found it unattractive, I believe. Which is true for myself as well. I really don't care about breast size at all, in fact typically don't notice for a while. But when I see a girl with very large breasts, my first thought is "That just has to be irritating", and just don't find it attractive.

Look. -Look-. What part of "look" don't you comprehend?

Looking=Thinking with Little Incen. I don't choose my friends or associates by appearance, indeed, I mostly meet people over the net. I cannot, however, control what gets my hormones up. Brains have a massive effect on my hormones: A girl starts talking advanced chemical theory to me and she may as well have just flashed me. Doesn't mean I'm immune to appearance.

Tell me, would you walk up to one of that guy who needed to have the wall of the house removed so they could take him to the hospital and go, "Oh my god, I hope he's single!"?

There are multiple traits one must look in to in mate selection. The physical ones are usually obvious, as there's no genetic benefit to producing physically hampered offspring. The mental abilities, equally important, take TIME to become obvious, because you have to sit down and talk.

Now, if YOU can peer in to a person's mind and learn all about their personality and mental ability, fine, I can't. When I look, all I can see is a body. Listening is what I use for the rest.

Next I'll be called shallow for not wanting to breed with people of average intelligence.

I live in Canada, and though my part of the country is not nearly as cold as others, we do get our share of winter. I have never had problems with my skin, it doesn't get dry or itchy due to the cold or anything. My lips occasionally do, which is why i have the blistex. The lotion i have i only wear sometimes because i like the smell, and because it does soften my skin a bit, but mine is already pretty soft.

As for the big breasts comment, i am not attracted to guys with back hair or chest hair and i'm not really into blonds. I would never refuse to go out with someone with those physical characteristics if they turned out to be a good person, but at first glance, the ones with those characteristics are not the first ones i would go up to. Looks are not the most important thing to me, but that doesn't mean i don't have my preferences, we all do. If i met a blond guy with chest and back hair, and a brunette with a clean shaven chest and back, and both were equally kind and equally smart, both had the personality traits i look for, i would choose the brunette in a heartbeat. I like guys with darker features. That may make me shallow, but in that case, i think we're all shallow.

Main point is, I have no positive reaction to massive breasts. They do nothing for me. Breasts between C and B, and providing the rest of the physical composition is to my liking, and whee, blood flow.

I cannot reprogram my brain to want massive breasts. Just not part of me. I've had plenty of friends who've had the things, and I feel sorry for all the back aches they get. Are some of them still attractive? You bet. Do they make me want to get them naked? No. But neither do my male friends.

Freud also thought that everyone was after a penis. However, there is, of course, various behaviorist techniques. But, frankly, if an individual woman is so great a person that breast size is the only issue I could have with her, I can get over it. Brains before beauty, but oh man the combination.

Last I heard, it was the depth of the hips, not the width, that -actually- helped in child rearing, and breasts would swell with about the same amount of milk no matter the original breast size. Breasts might be an indicator of health, perhaps, since their size is somewhat altered by relative weight...

Either way, not my interest.

To call that shallow is to call being anything but bisexual shallow. I simply lack personal sexual interest in certain physical builds.

Yeah, the heat in the summer can be brutal.

I don't think the windchill ever gets to -50C here though. I think the worst has been around -30 or so (which also sucks horribly). That doesn't seem to hurt my face as much as my lips specifically. Aside from the biting them and picking at them, they're all cracked and dry from the wind and cold. I'm glad it doesn't get that cold here, I can't stand the temperatures we get here... makes me want to move to British Columbia, the pacific is supposed to make everything milder.

Make-up? Usually I go without, I have to keep reminding myself to keep applying lipgloss to prevent chapping.
If I'm wearing contacts I night put under-eye concealer, the amount of sleep I'm getting is not good for my face.
If I'm going anywhere...I have lipstick but I tend to go for coloured lip-glosses. Sheer foundation, bromzer and either pink eyeshadow or gold. Black mascara. If I'm going somewhere really fancy I might put black or copper eyeliner and match my eyeshadow to my clothes...I once accidentally tried to use green-blue eyeshadow as a liner too...it was an interesting effect. Usually blue or blue green if I do go for dramatic eyes.
My one weekness: nail varnish. I'm rarely not wearing any...if I'm bored I'll take the old stuff off and do some fancy design. At the moment I have (from left to right) navy; silver with red St.George cross; navy; silver & red cross; Union Jack (including the Welsh red cross in the right place); Union Jack; navy; red with a silver star in the right (for China); navy; red with silver star.

makes me want to move to British Columbia, the pacific is supposed to make everything milder.TOTALLY! I LOOOOVE British Columbia. What a beautiful province. We drive out there from time to time. Although my friends in Vancouver says it gets too rainy and miserable there, the rest of the province is generally gorgeous.

The Pacific does make things milder, i live in BC, on the northcoast. My city is on an island, the only one on the island, so we are literally on the ocean. We do get snow, got some today in fact, and it does get cold, but not nearly as cold as most other places in the country.

Nope. It's a bit messed up at the moment 'cos the brush on the varnish is too thick. I had this idea back home to take the scrappy paintbrush on my pc shelf and use my craft knife to trim it down until it's really thin. It worked a treat.
Chipping is a problem...I either fill in to repair, fill in with a totally different colour or leave it until I can be bothered to redo.

it's quite change trust me. I live in Oregon, and I've made visits to the east coast multiple times, and was shocked at how different things are. Like what passes for a hill on the east coast is common place in the west. Also there are far more coniferous trees here in the west, and much smaller towns. I had never seen a deciduous forest until I went back east.

Do you like make up? Just curious
Make-up when applied properly can enhance a woman's beauty and not be visibly there. The Tammy Fay Baker look is just for dumb kids who don't realize there is another way or feel the need to prove they are old enough to wear it. There are also those women who don't need it to help show their beauty.

I love playing with make up, even though I don't wear it that often. I'm just too lazy most of the time. I especially love eye make up. I've always been told my eyes and complexion are my best features. Sometimes I go for a subtle natural look, but other times I like to go dramatic. Otherwise I don't mess with other make up much. I like neutral colored lipsticks and rarely wear blush. But I have tons of eye make up, just so I have all different colors to play with.

I don't think very many guys realize that "natural" is actually natural make-up. Cosmetics aren't just eyeshadow, lipstick, and mascara. Pore-refiners, foundation, exfoliators, fall in the same category.
the truth is that you guys probably dont even know when a girl is wearing makeup if she is wearing it correctly. lots of teen girls look like crap in makeup because they have no idea how to put it on or what looks best on them. those that do know, just look pretty.
I used to believe in that way of looking at it, until I was a freshman in college and learned from my (not-quite-yet) boyfriend that he didn't like stuff like concealer, foundation, etc. because if you looked really closely at someone you could ALWAYS tell that they're wearing it.

And it's true - no matter how great someone is at applying, you *can* tell... even if she's good at blending and choosing colors, she can't truly hide the fact that she's wearing another layer of *something* on her face.

I'd say it works for stars on TV, but not if you're going to have an intimate talk with someone. And that doesn't mean that I don't wear any makeup now - I still like to put on lipstick and eyeshadow (particularly something fun and sparkly when I go out dancing), but the rest of my face is au naturelle - the only thing I put on it is an SPF 15 moisturizer every morning.

Actually, it's the ratio of waist to hips that does it. 0.7 to 1 is considered ideally healthy and good for bearing children.
Whoa - you're kidding, right? Anywhere near 1 is huge (waist-wise, I mean) and not even the preferred look for males!!!

*consults online sources, because no longer has Intro to Psych text*

"The waist to hip ratio preferred by average males in females is .65, whereas that by average females in males is .85." (http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:D8HsZFw3MxAJ:www.mega.nu/gender.html+%22waist+to+hip+ratio%22+%22sexual+desirability%22&hl=en)

I personally never had much of a problem with any eye makeup - I guess for me, if it doesn't HIDE your face, it's a non-issue.

(And while I'm a brunette and don't really ever wear mascara - mostly because I think it's a pain to deal with - I have friends who are blonde, redheaded, etc. and I totally understand why they often wear mascara.)

My own ratio is more like .85, but I'm not as slender as I was when I was younger. But face it, I'm 5'7". When I was 18 I weighed 113# and now I weigh closer to 140#. With a sedentary lifestyle it will eventually catch up with you. On the plus side I went from a c cup to a d cup when I gained weight. So I still have some nice curves, there just a little softer and rounder than they used to be.

Back to the cosmetics, I'm a brunette, but I used to dye it a light auburn, the color of new pennies. I had decided it matched my temperament much better. But it's dark brown now, even so the roots of my eyelashes are dark but they get blond about half way up. So it looks like I have short lashes when I don't. Hence me considering mascara a neccessity.

I was cursed with hips (well, don't consider them to be much of a curse now that I'm in my 20s, but when I was in my early teens and just getting them I *despised* them), so I'm around .64-.67, depending on the measurements (is it just me, or is it impossible to get consistent measurement of waist, hips, etc., even when measuring a second time within minutes of the first time?).

I think everyone's eyelashes fade at the tips... guess that's why mascara is so popular with so many women! :D

EDIT: I still consider my waist-to-hip ratio to be something of a curse when I'm trying to buy clothes, particularly slacks and any skirt that isn't a-line. Grr.

There is a place on the upper lid where one can apply eyeline and no one actually sees it as a line, or anything - it just looks like a slight crescent shadow, and makes the eyes more noticeable.

Occasionally I'll wear make-up. It depends what time of day I'm getting ready to go out - on school days I wake up ten minutes before I have to leave, so there's no time for make-up; on weekends if I'm meeting friends around noon I'll usually throw on some natural coloured lipstick or some eyeshadow; last time I went out at night I wore dark plum lipstick, gray eyeshadow and dark gray eyeliner.

So, I guess it depends on the situation/time/phase of the moon/how much sugar I've had/who I want to impress/first letter in the name of the day.

Personally, I just wear a bit of eyeliner, bit of powder and a bit of lipbalm. Then maybe eyeshadow if I'm going out.

I used to wear more but in the end I got fed up and realised how fake it looked anyway.

Ideally, make up should be used to enhance best features and draw away from bad ones.

I don't really care how people wear make-up. If putting on foundation gives them more confidence, then wear foundation. I don't see whats wrong with that.

Natural

But.. If one is going to wear make-up they need to not over do it! You shouldn't be able to tell (unless you look for it) they are wearing any really.

I rarely wear make-up. I use neutral tones for eyes lightly applied. Lip gloss clear or lightly tinted and rosey glow tint stuff on my cheeks (not rouge or blush.. its something else.. one of the newer lighter wearing tinters with a bit of sparkle) sometimes. No foundation & haven't found a lipstick I like, feels heavy. No matter how lightly applied I still can't wait to wash it off! Only thing that doesn't bother me is lip mosturizer.. have it on most of the time. I use clear or almost transparent in color nail polish when I do wear it. I've had the same can of hairspray for 2 years.. can't stand it in my hair. Also rarely ever wear jewelry, makes me feel constricted.

But i dont really dig the smell of some products and prefer not to taste it in most cases. So i rather like women i get real close to not to wear anything. On the other hand i like dyed hair, tattoos and piercings, so i am no "all-natural" person.

Hmmm - but what about eyeliner, like on Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean??

I wouldn't want it all the time, but it can be hot in a shocking kind of way if done occasionally, in the right situation!

I wouldn't find make up ever a good look on a man. I didn't like the eyeliner on Johnny Depp in the movie.. but it was a movie.. so no big deal.

People going on about natural beauty... that's all good and well but not everyone has natural beauty so shouldn't they be able to help their case and improve their confidence without you lot judging them for it?

it seems like a lot of the girls who wear makeup don't really need it.they wear too much makeup,so they wind up looking fake.i'm not saying that i never wear makeup,i just don't go overboard with it.

Occasionally i like to wear make-up, but I'm not a fan of wearing a lot at once or wearing it a lot.

(I usually wear at least mascara to work... blond eye lashes look like they are invisible)

Ohhhh, tell me about it. Most of the girls at my school who try to wear blush end up looking like clowns. Literally, they have these giant, clearly defined circles of dark pink/red on their cheeks. And sometimes they miss their cheeks and it's all over their cheek bones. Ngh, it looks so wrong. Or they use wayyyy too much foundation and just end up looking like puppets. *shudders*

I'm a girl and I've never worn make-up out of choice I'd prefer people to like me for me and not for the amount I'm willing to spend on making me look like something i'm not.

...

I'd prefer guys to like me for my personality, not for my looks with or without makeup. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

I don't wear make up. I don't like the idea that I have to change my face for someone to find me attractive. The idea of make up is actually kind of depressing in my opinion.. I often think that girls need to be a bit more confident. I probably would wear crazy eyeshadow for fun, and of course halloween though I have never felt the need to or want to yet.

Will you come a-waltzing matilda with me?

It is a self-pleasing thing too you know...sometimes it's nice to hide the blemishes.

the truth is that you guys probably dont even know when a girl is wearing makeup if she is wearing it correctly. lots of teen girls look like crap in makeup because they have no idea how to put it on or what looks best on them. those that do know, just look pretty.
Ashmoria is probably touching upon my thoughts on the matter. If make-up is used at all, then it's best used in such a way that it's not noticed.

Of course, a sincere smile and a friendly conversation do as much (if not more) for a woman's attractiveness.

Myself: I like it and wear it, but I will never be uncomfortable without it. Either I wear something subtle and natural, or I wear something really dramatic that's clearly an art project more than a serious way to look. Sometimes I do my makeup really overblown, take a glamour shot of myself, and then wash it off cuz I'd never actually wear it out but it's fun to put on.

Other girls: Less is more. I think most girls look prettiest with little or no makeup. Most of the people at my school wear either none, or just one trusty item. The exceptions way overdo it. Concealer, foundation, blush, powder, mascara, eyeshadow, eyeliner, lip gloss and they think that's "the basics". *sigh*

Guys: So few even touch it, but on the few I've seen wearing it all I can say is: OMG hotness! Seriously, I think guys must have invented makeup for themselves way back when and then some cultural shift turned it around, cuz it just works so well.

i must say one more thing:
how do girls feel uncomfortable without makeup when they can barely move their faces when they're wearing it?seriously, their faces are stuck in permanent (fake) smiles, and when asked why they subject themselves to that, they tell me that they'd be uncomfortable without it!
