Get a colour wheel (with all primary and secondary colours in their order i.e. adjacents next to each other) and spin it really fast.

You are confusing colours of light with the colours in the paint pigments.
The pigments are not light nor are they true primary colour representations.
so when you mix them you get a dark brown mess.
