Hmm, lesse...
I've tried melatonin, and although it put me to sleep, I'd wake up about half an hour later.
I tried something else, and it didn't work. I forgot what it's called.
I tried one thing that did work, but it had the side effect of making me dizzy the next day, so I only used it when it was necessary to sleep. However, I couldn't get my hands on any more after one night I figured out it lowered my blood pressure and accidentally tried to commit suicide with them. I can't get my hands on anything stronger that would work for now, so I'm stuck.

I've dealt with these issues before and have performed many self studies as well as research on sleeping problems. I've had sleeping issues for about 8 years now and I've descovered that when I developed a pre bed time routine that it helped me fall asleep much easier which includes a "bedtime playlist" or CD of music I find relaxing, cooling my room down and using lots of blankets and other things along the same lines. Also if you awake feeling unrested you might try to sleep for different lengths of time since everyone is different and the old wise tale about you need 8 hrs of sleep is BS. I do better w/ 4-6 hrs of sleep than I do w/ 7-12 for example. I think that it really just depends on the person individually but all of the above help. Being in college alcohol is always worth a try but that doesnt even work for everyone. Benedryl works ok if you havent taken it before otherwise the next I'd try would be Tylenol Sinus, and then Tylenol PM. Plus if none of that works after a while a new pillow, matress or a visit to a DR. which are more expensive options but can be well worth it cause sleep no matter how little or how much your body needs is most definatly needed.
Good Luck hope I could help and all goes well,
-JB

I had difficulty falling asleep for several years, sometimes taking an hour or more to fall asleep...then it got even more difficult last winter. I went an entire night without sleep once, and sometimes had to sleep at my girlfriend's just to keep that from happening. It turns out my biggest problem was that I got frustrated at not being able to fall asleep...the longer I went without sleeping, the more upset I got. That said, the more upset I got, the less likely I was to fall asleep...it was a vicious cycle. Once I got past that, I stopped having difficulty falling asleep...that and now that I take Zoloft, it helps calm the shakes. I hardly have any trouble falling asleep, and my fiancee's snoring doesn't bother me half the time either...

Certain yoga poses, as mentioned before, will actually help a lot.
If you are unwilling, just turn on the television.
It works for me every time.
I think getting really, really tired is a good way to fall asleep since your body is so fatigued and exhausted that sleep comes naturally. There's been a well-documented disease of Sleep Apoenia, which really causes havoc to people's sleeping habits. I have it sometimes too, and I think that's what causes people to snore.

Sounds like it. If it is too much of a problem, you should probably see a psychiatrist about it. Though it really depends on who you go to on whether he or she will be able to help, since different psychiatrists have different reliances on pharmacology. From my personal experience, there is nothing one can do, and no-one want sto give my sleeping pills for fear of addiction. But, who knows, perhaps you're different.

:D Ah that explains some of the things I hear from you Neo. :D
LOL: just teasing. I can relate right now I am getting about 8-10 hours every 2-3 days. Nothing that works for some people will work for everyone else. If the old standby's don't work (warm drink-noncarbonated, laying in a dark room forcing yourself to empty you mind of all thought-counting sheep is counterproductive....) try getting a massage (mother's, girlfriends, 2am girls are good for this) but make sure it is not a massage with a happy ending (particulairly if it your mother---EWWWEWWW). Some people actually can use Caffeine to relax (I used to be one). Hot bath can put you to sleep (only try if you can sleep in place without slipping under the water also spend the 5-10 bucks for a "bath pillow" keeps you from getting a wickedly nasty kink in the neck. For some call a senior friend/family member and get them to pull a grandpa Simpson. There are hundreds more but the only way to tell if one will work is to try them and experiment with others. You could always check with your doctor for signs of depression. Insomnia is a MAJOR sign of depression.

Depends. Hypersomnia, sleeping more than the normal amount, is also a major sign of depression. Affective flattening and avolition were two large symptoms for me, and I slept much more than normal. Though occasionally I suffered from insomnia, but the avolition was quite somniferous.
One solution for helping insomnia is only using the bed for sleeping, and nothing else like reading or watching TV. This lets your mind associate the bed primarily with sleep. Sleep apnoea, nightmares, and allergies can also prohibit sleep. I don't really know, as my only solution to insomnia has been that eventually my body just says "Fuck you" and I pretty much just collapse from exhaustion. This lasts for a week or two, and then after I've had that short period of hypersomnia, I go back to my insomnia for quite a while.
However, orgasm can actually be a great soporific from what I've heard, preferably through copulation, but I believe that autoerotism can also help.

When I had my wisdom teeth out the Vicoden knocked me right down...so did the Valium I took before the surgery, but the stuff they injected into my hand to knock me out at the Oral surgeons, whew, that was crazy.
I was sitting down in the chair, and there was a tray with four needles on it. The nurse put on IV into my hand, and started away with the needles. I watched needle one, needle two and needle three go in just fine, then she put in needle four, and by the time the plunger was halfway down, I was out.

Very insightful! The acive ingredient in Tylenol is acetaminophen. Just as Advil is ibuprofen. Benadryl is diphenhydramine, which also happens to be the active ingredient added into Tylenol PM to facilitate sleep.
And for me, diphenhydramine didn't work too well, since it made me very groggy in the morning.

No, it's caused by how long the buds are allowed to stay on the plant. If harvested early, you get an up high, if harvested late you get a sleepy stone. It has to do with the proportions of canabinoids (sp?) in the weed. More of the sleepy ones develop later in the bud's maturation.

Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine, and it does not have any long-term deleterious effects. Neither does acetaminophen in the proper doses.

With the advent of the Microwave, it's surprisingly easy to make! Anyway, that's my recommendation. Soft, slow music and an extra warm blanket is also good thing to add to the mix.

P.S.: If you are worried about getting too much fat through the milk or something, there's always the option of mixing milk and warm water. On the flip side; if you find milk a bit drab, you can add a little bit of honey. Both options lessen the effects a little bit, though.

That sucks. At least it wasn't a few ounces of coke.
big time!
and nope it was 37 mason jars of mycelium which produces about an 1/8 of an ounce of mushrooms per jar.

I did get busted for growing mushrooms though and was in county jail in a small corrupt town called Warsaw, Indiana for 2 weeks! I was just passing thru the town moving somewhere east, and had stopped at a gas station where a fight broke out. Like a dumbass I stayed to watch and when the cops got there they saw my long hair and immediatly assumed I was big trouble (so they illegally searched my car and found my grow equipment and many mason jars full of mycelium - they gave some bullshit story about how a bag of marijuana fell on teh ground when I opened my wallet to show them my liscense). I guess just a week before there was a issue at a grateful dead concert and a bunch of the dead heads rushed a gate, so they naturally assumed I must ahve been an evil hippie.
Yes, but you actually can't get busted for growing them. You got in trouble for having them in the administerable form, which is different than just growing.

well I know that psilocybin is contained within the mycelium, but I wouldn't call it an administerable form.
yeah I know its legal to sell the spore prints. I got mine mail order from a place in Oregon.

Why can I not sleep? I desperately want to sleep, I am sure of that, but I just cannot. In fact, even reading drab material from my Philosophy of Statistics class doesn't even help. Good God, is the insomnia striking again?!?!?!?!

Yep. Works wonders, but it's habit forming and you have to have a Rx.
Huh? its not addictive at all, thats why its used so much. The side effects I have read about ambein is that it gives you a terrible aftertaste the next morning, will only work for about 2 weeks and if taken 2 weeks straight can cause intense insominia for a couple nights when you are done takin it...

I was wrong, it's only psychologically addictive.

My doctor told me if I used it too often I wouldn't be able to sleep without it. Which is a moot point, since I can't sleep without it anyway.
