Is the opposite of a radical a moderate, or a radical from the other side?
Is the opposite of "famous in a good way" "famous in a bad way," or is it "completely undistinguished?"
Is the opposite of working not working, or is it playing?
Is the opposite of "militant pro-lifer" "militant pro-choicer," or is it "dude who doesn't care about abortion?"
Is the opposite of "I loathe Maxine" "I absolutely adore Maxine," or is it "I am utterly indifferent towards Maxine?"
These queries beg a question: When a concept has more than one element to it, what can legitimately be called its opposite?
And what is an opposite anyway?
